I love how “Into the Black” has parts that can be interpreted as being said from Guts AND Griffith’s perspective. “Will the scars reveal all the sins you chose, and how betrayed I feel in my fractured bones” can be said obviously by Guts after Griffith’s betrayal in the eclipse, but this can also be said by Griffith after Guts left him and the hawks after their second duel - as Griffith saw Guts’ betrayal a great sin as he lay physically and emotionally fractured in his cell. A beautiful duality, as after both those crucial moments, Guts and Griffith were plunged into their respective “blacks.” Brilliant song as always man! EDIT: BERSERK IS BACK BOYSSSSS!!!!!

The most beautiful part of Berserk is that it could be considered a story about recovering from the cycles of trauma and PTSD. The number of times Guts had to choose between his hate and his love... until one fateful day atop a tower, in front of a newly resurrected Griffith no less,, he finally chose. And the cycles began to break. But anyone who's gone through trauma knows it isn't that simple... rest easy, Guts. You earned it. And the same goes to Miura. Thanks, Aviators. I made this as a tribute too Berserk, I can't tell you if its a poem, or a song and its not even finished yet but I want to share it nonetheless. I had just finished the Lost Children's Arc for the 20th time so that's probably what I drew the most from. I came from the night, monsters followed me. When the crow fly's by, and this becomes your final night. You thought i'd being you peace, but you died because of my rage I'm not the hero, I've become a slave. I'm not the hero, the golden knight who brings the day. I'm not the hero, just a beast in the darkness. I'm not the hero. The hate I feel, is all I know. Branded pain guides me, the blood that never flows away.

Fighting the darkness closing in at the edge of my vision, I can see it. All the small questions, worries, every doubt I pushed aside along the way, just like I was, as soon as it was convenient. Is this what a promise is? What your word means? No amount of demons slain can attest for what we've done, what I did. To fight is to live. To fight the darkness that threatens to consume me. And when you had the audacity to be surprised by my survival, I barely heard your pathetic apologies. "I did it for us! I thought you were dead." A while ago, that would have worked. But the naive little thing you used as a tool no longer exists; it died, killed and left behind to rot by the one thing that gave them a sense of hope and meaning. I am but a ghost of who you once knew, and this broken husk will break no more. I will face my sins, forever fighting the darkness back, without you. And when I can fight it no longer, I will fight into the black, without you.
