This song... this song... it gives me chills. I heard this album when I got back from the last day of school. I sat down in my backyard to get the atmosphere right for listening. Throughout the album, I found a ton of songs that I absolutely adored. But the *moment* this song came on, I felt something so strong coming from it. I marveled at the intro before it got to the best part- the bassline. I couldn't help but have a huge smile on my face when I heard that. I loved it. So. Much. The melody came in, and I was thrilled, and I was never let down throughout the whole song. I love this song so much. It's my second favorite song EVER, right next to Psychoactive. This is now my go-to song whenever I get an anxiety attack or have urges. It soothes me so much and it gives me, for some reason, this feeling of nostalgia and freedom that I can't describe. Hell, I started crying when I first listened! Avi, you'll always be my favorite artist since you can create stuff that lets me feel like this. Thank you. Also, this song always reminded me of something from Resident Evil, most of the time RE4. Not sure why!

The combo here feels odd at first, but it actually blends excellently. The background music tells me that this is an epic dance, with a dangerous lull and sudden intensity where all the action is centered. The lyrics tell me the progression of two hunters, each carefully maneuvering and attempting to outwit each other until they are confronted in abrupt and lightning-fast combat where a single mistake will be their end. While it may sound strange that a battle between a cosmically powerful being and what we can assume to be a human or superhuman Hero would be paced like a dance, I very much disagree. Because to me, this sound like a hella funky Bloodborne boss fight. Starting at 4:00 there's very humanizing lines, where the Monster seems to understand that the Hero is afraid of It and why, so It tries to tempt them to join It. The offer is gone as soon as it came, of course, and the Monster immediately goes back to threatening the Hero and claiming that It has already won, thus leading into the final battle. And that's why this it works. How many Bloodborne fights have you been in that did not, in some way, feel like a brutal and bloody dance. Jumping in and out of attack, playing it safe or rushing in boldly with a decisive blow. The main line further supports this, that if you freeze for even a second, the Monster will instantly end you, leaving you as the prey. And I, of course, am always up for an exhilarating dance with the darkness.

I think you missed on that part at 4 min in. That whole thing isn't the monster. It is the HUMAN taunting the monster. "See what kind of monster you've set free." You do not back a human into a corner unless you are prepared for that fight or flight response to swing so far into fight that even being disemboweled isn't enough to stop them from fighting and killing. The most monstrous of foes is not the dragon. We know it's strengths, we know it's weaknesses. No, the most monstrous of beings is the human. For there is no depths it will not go, no highs it will not chase, no just cause it will not follow, no lengths it will stop at to achieve victory. No deed is too much or too far to contemplate for the human. What you consider unsporting, the human considers as common practice. What you consider as absolute horror, they willingly plunge into. Why else do they spread plague and disease, salt the earth, destroy entire ecosystems just to win a single battle? Trust not in you claws, your size, nor your hardened body... for the human, that most cruel and wicked existence has a multitude of ways around it.

i've been listening to this song since it came out, almost every week at least once, y'know? and every time i come back there are more comments with their take on the song, so i think it's high time i return that sentiment, since i do listen to this song a lot when i'm writing. this isn't a dance battle, the catchy beat and the lectro really shine on that but in reality this is no dance battle, it's a battle dance. who knows how long it's done this, the beginning of time or, perhaps, not even a month. but it's always the same, a valiant hero comes to kill the monster and make this blighted world slightly brighter, and every hero rushes forward so sure of their victory. who can say how many have fallen but this monster rises each night with the same sickly tune in it's head, these poor souls don't understand a thing. it's no more a monster than those heroes are now alive, without a voice of it's own yet haunted by the voices it's claws have rendered from flesh, no matter how many times it screams and pushes against it's very nature, these heroes know nothing, and neither does the monster. maybe it's fate, maybe it's coincidence, the ones lucky enough to escape the first time aren't as gifted the second attempt at battle. and so the monster dances, moves it knows well enough to slumber on, dodge and swipe and bite. it's always the same, it's a monster, isn't it? if all these heroes want it dead then surely it is in the wrong, how could it be anything else? alas, who can say, neither hero nor monster is willing to pray to find out. and so it dances with each new hero, their strategies always so predictable. it wants to hurt these heroes, but it cannot say why. it can only struggle fruitlessly at it's own nature as it continues the path before it. the encounters are like clockwork, the hero arrives and realizes their end is near, and the monster fights with all it has to an end nowhere in sight. both stand paralyzed in the realization nothing that they do will change the course of their futures, and there they stay, paralyzed in their own thoughts of freedom from the whimsical dance both are naught to escape.

The traveling circus his parents performed in had just been slaughtered by a great beast. Only he and the knife juggler's son made it to the town alive. He approaches everyone that looks like an adventurer, begging for help and sobbing out what happened. Most push him aside; some kick and call him "fiend spawn" or other slurs. The juggler's son gets brought to the orphanage (who can resist a halfling face with tears welling up?), but he gets rejected; "no room" with an empty bed by the window at night, "not enough food" when everyone gets seconds each meal. He sees what's really happening. "No room" for a tiefling, "not enough" for someone who doesn't look like them. He won't rely on the grace of the uncaring. He'll take what he needs straight from those that drove him down this path: straight from the adventurers. He's made it several years without getting caught. A few brushes with "the law," but hatred fuels adrenaline more than a missing coin purse does and every alley is an ally to one who knows the way. It doesn't hurt that overpaying the shopkeepers makes allies with backdoors. After one easy escape, the victimized adventurer grabbed an innocent tiefling teen passing by, mistaking her for the thief, only seeing race, not even male and female. She's confused as she tries to defend herself, but their grip is unyielding and their other gauntlet swift. She falls. She doesn't get up. They search her body unceremoniously, but don't find what isn't there. They walk away angrily and don't even look back, leaving her body there. He follows them and they go drinking at the tavern with the party, paying with borrowed gold. They're laughing... after killing an innocent... and leaving her body in the street... they're drinking... and LAUGHING. He bursts into the tavern and shouts, calling them out. They draw a sword and the whole party chases him out. He heads down alleys and uses every foolproof path he knows, but the party follows, never letting up. He gets chased all the way out of town. He'd only ever come in the gate before, never out. He has no choice anymore; this town could no longer be his home. He runs into the forest, leaving his pursuers. He weeps for the slain innocent. He screams out for mercy, for fairness, for justice, for revenge. To the final cry, he hears a response... a voice that sounds like him, but without the humanity. A voice granting power. The forest town is safe from monsters, but no longer is it because of adventurers. Adventurers are the only ones not safe in the surrounding area. Adventurers get hunted. Word has spread of the monster that only kills adventurers and that has drawn hunters to seek him out. He kills them too. This time will be no different. 0:35 (So I know...) This hunter, this... ADVENTURER thinks they're top dog out here in the dark forest. He waits patiently, watching them through the darkness, unseen. He can tell that they're confident of their skill, but they'll be just one more trophy. His eyes are well adapted to the dark and he can tell that they're expecting an ambush and waiting to counterattack. Perhaps they think the fire will keep him away. It will not. He attacks, not from directly behind, as they might expect, but from a rear angle. 1:10 (That adrenaline rush...) Swords are drawn in an instant and steel clashes against steel. Both combatants, tiefling and human, freeze. This is the adventurer from all those years ago, the murder who walked away and laughed. He loses his composure and throws all three swords across the fire. He punches and claws them, seeing only what they did to her. They manage to push him off, each opponent's hands gripping the other's as if to crush the very bones. Eyes locked, he knows that THIS night is the last night he will seek vengeance. It won't be easy, but just like with her, it won't be fair either. His crowning achievement will be won tonight. 2:04 (Wicked traps are set...) Humans have trouble seeing traps in the dark. The two shove off from each other. They grab their swords and he summons his to his hand. He moves from the campfire into the dark forest. They sheath one sword and take a piece of firewood as a torch. They seem uneasy, then take a defensive stance and move into the darkness. He springs forth for only a moment at a time, leaping back into darkness before a proper counterattack can be mounted, leading and driving them where he wants. They stumble into a trap and manage to fall flat before a log swings over them, narrowly missing. 2:40 (That adrenaline rush...) Another burst of clashing swords. The makeshift torch dies out. He moves in bursts on the periphery of their senses to disorient them. The skirmishes have only been swordplay and preparation until now, but the time has come for warlock tricks to come out. He tells them that this is exactly why killing them will be his crowning achievement. He shares that they are the reason he's hunting adventurers here. They fumble around in their pack before striking a proper torch to life. They stand and look around in silence for a long time, mentally preparing for the inevitable... 4:00 (As the darkness...) He engulfs them in magical darkness, forcing them to leave the clearing. He pursues, stealthily, crawling under foliage at times. He can see that their resolve is nearly broken, as he's broken every adventurer's resolve out here. He lets them hear the rustle of bushes and the snap of branches. He sees them jump at each sound and flail their torch at the darkness. He casts Mirror Image to surround his foe from out of sight and steps closer, preparing to settle back into pursuit. 4:26 (Through the multitude...) They see the circle of glinting eyes staring back at them. They stumble in retreat, forgetting the torch in their panic. He and his mirror images step forward and he reveal his fiendish face in all its wrath. Their mouth is agape in an attempted scream, terrified by the vengeful horde. They repeatedly hide behind a tree or in a bush only to be found immediately by a mirror image, driving them to lash out and find another spot. He releases a barrage of magical tendrils upon them. They fall back into a bear trap, which breaks their leg, but they manage to pry it off. They arrive back at the now smoldering campfire, starting to regain their calm. 4:53 (That adrenaline rush...) He chooses this moment to reveal himself from the shadows, drawing his sword. The final bout of combat doesn't last long, one side is crippled and frightened nearly to death and the other filled with ferocious determination. They're left disarmed, at the mercy of his tiefling hands. They beg forgiveness, apologize for wrongs, and offer all that they have for their life. He cuts them down anyway. He doesn't care whether or not he's as bad as them. They were guilty; she was only guilty of being born different.

Then I realized I sounded like someone trying to sound smarter than they are and I had no idea how to connect things to make any of it work, so I didn't bother moving it over to my new phone. Well From what I caught, "paralysed" here refers less to the actual state of paralysis, and more to the battle whete neither side can overcome the other. "Paralysed with you", "it's a stalemate", "you will be this hunter's golden prize _if you leave your guard down_ paralysed" - a slightest mistake in this state will turn the tide.

If i look at the background and listen to the lyrics it makes me think that the lines Aviators sings is the current hunter (mostly because of the sentence "you will be this hunter's golden prize, if you leave your guard down paralyzed" and that's because he's facing a dragon, and the dragon has killed many past hunters so the dragon doesn't fight on his best, hence the sentence "if you leave your guard down paralyzed") and the lines that Lectro sings are the souls of past hunters resonating with the current hunter's soul (because of the sentence "you'll be next to bear the mark of the tendrils in the dark" and "but i hope you understand, that it's always been the same" since the past hunters have all shared the same fate after hunting on that dragon, which was always death)
