Leukotape can prevent and treat blisters on the trail. Leukotape can be used to avoid blisters by applying it to hotspots while on the trail. You can prevent blisters by pre-taping any areas that are prone to hotspots prior to a long dayhike or during a multi-day hike. Leukotape can also treat blisters that have already formed.

My pleasure, the key is to catch the hotspot before it goes into a full blister. Leukotape should be applied as soon as you feel the hotspot, or if you know where you typically get them, pre-apply. Happy trails!

Good stuff as always. I have been using Leuko tape for years especially during long Adventure Races. I have always rolled a strip on a cut off pencil to reduce bulk but the adhesive gets messy unrolling. I really like the tip of strips on wax paper.

Cut holes to fit around the blister, and build a few layers up, this keeps adhesive off the injured skin, and provides protection against continued friction on the blister

@@OutsideChronicles never tried, but yeah, that sounds promising. I was a medic in my 20s, patching blistered feet was a constant. Remember one kid going for the German badge, some long ass, weighted, ruck march, who didn't tell us his feet were bothering him. He thought he knew how to use the moleskin, the tape we had for it, and waited till his soles were blistered across, and then just put full strips across the bottoms of his feet, booted up, and kept going. The adhesive stuck to the blisters, and the tape added another slippy, friction, layer. Tough fucker, finished with a good time, before someone noticed his tan boots were a pretty deep red. Practically 'Degloved' his feet, the skin sloughed off with the socks, and we instantly knew what he had done. Just surface layers, he was back to full blown pt stud in a month or two, but that looked as painful as some serious burns. Sgt got pictures, made a great training aid

Hello. Wish I saw this vid two weeks ago. Went for a hike across Dartmoor wearing boots that were rubbing both my heels. I put plasters on them but I was too late! The journey back took the top layers of skin off of both of my heels. Still not quite heeled back yet. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

Love using Leuko tape in my bag also to replace bandages for work. Unless in a hard container, bandages kept getting ruined before I got to use it, just from shifting around in my bag and the ziplock it was in provided no protection. Started using the Leuko tape for deep scratches and for cuts and it’s amazing. Bandaids I have to reinforce with duck/gaff tape to hold in place from sweat or just a lot of movement, even the sport bandaids which are amazing, but can only do so much especially on hands which are used non-stop. Leuko tape can handle a ton of mobility; and sweat/moisture without coming off. I love it. Great to have in your bag for hiking/camping or if you are in construction or something similar for light first aid

Mike well said, this stuff works everytime I have been using it for years on hikes of some 1000km+ . If you put this on 1st day well before hot spots it becomes a no brainer everyday after. I also find Fixomull stretch is an equal quality preventer only thinner.

Hi, I'm doing my first trek. Day 1 is 11 k and day 2 is 6km up+ 6km down but this part is a steep climb at about 12000 ft. Where should I apply the tape. Also should I apply the cushion( to me used for wearing heals) then put the tape on. I have purchased proper trekking boots and socks. Thank you, any advice will be much appreciated.

Brilliant!! Have a tip of a toe (difficult area) that gets a water blister regardless of shoes, lube, blister-proof socks, powders etc. Not a huge issue, but I'm excited to see if this will solve it.
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles 9 ай бұрын
Leukotape will definitely help. I am not sure of the issue with your toe, but have heard Injiji socks do wonders. Personally, I have switched to Altra Lone Peaks and more recently Topo Athletic Terraverse trailrunners for hiking. They have a large toe box. When you put them on, it kind of looks like a clown shoe, but it allows your toes room to spread out. I do not think I can go back to regular shoes. I even bought a pair of Altra runners for my everyday use and walks.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious why non-stretch tape is recommended for blisters. Some other videos have mentioned stretchy tape is better at curving around spots like toes.
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles 23 күн бұрын
It holds the skin in place, not allowing the blister to expand. It also holds the skin stopping internal friction. It’s a game changer.

Great suggestion, Mike! What about putting 2 layers of tape (or even more)? Wouldn't it be protecting better? Or do you think it is useless? I am asking this because I am really annoyed by blisters, and I am looking for the best protection possible!
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles 3 жыл бұрын
The tape is super sticky and durable, I do not think you need two layers, but it would not hurt to try. But, I would give one layer a try first, you will be surprised on how well it sticks and protects. The non-elastic quality will do most of the work.

The difference is athletic tape stretches, Leukotape is static, so it keeps your skin stable. It is really a game changer over other tapes and moleskin.

The very day after I watched this, I was at Chipotle and I noticed they had rolls of take-out stickers and the used backing was piling up on the floor. I excitedly asked what they would do with it, and the guy said they throw it away. I took it off their hands, cut it into 3-5 inch strips, added the leukotape, and had a stack big enough for our whole crew to use on a two day trek!

if I wear too socks that solves much of the hot spot issue. i get blisters when my own toes rub against each other. I like to pretape as I already know where my feet have issues. Maybe you can place gauze directly over the damaged skin, or coat it with ointment so that the tape doesn't stick.

People get blisters on their feet the same way people get blisters on their hands : through absence of use. You get blisters because you spend most of your day on a computer instead of doing anything. The type of self indulgent losers that wear "Under Armour" brand shirts. If you're looking for ways to treat blisters, it means you don't spend much time hiking.
