Homes built on landfill also shake more in earthquakes. The USGS has maps showing these areas. And also where things are built on bedrock. A home without such issues will cost more. Or have to be smaller for the same price. But if it means an earthquake doesn’t make your home uninhabitable, it might be worth it.
