Very comprehensive list. Bugs, daily rain, and the bad drivers definitely top my list! There are so many positives that definitely outweigh the negatives though 👍

No question the positives outweigh the negatives, but it’s always good to hear the negatives also so people can get a good picture of life here. But you know Tampa is da bomb!

Moved here from Chicago two years ago, thanks to Adam and this awesome city! We absolutely love it here. We’ve embraced the heat. (You don’t have to shovel sunshine). I guarantee you’ll love it here. Traffic is still better than Chicago. Bugs are no issue in our area. They spray. Gators leave you alone, if you leave them alone. LOVE IT HERE!

Yeah but have you ever seen a couple deer eating feed out of a bucket on your back porch with your whole backyard covered in glistening whitesnow, while you're drinking hot cider and rum in footie pajamas? you don't have to diet 7 months a year, you don't really have to go anywhere if you don't feel like it lol I mean the footy pajamas alone, right? Tampa, including most of the places you will go do not have an issue with bugs. Personally i am one that mosquitos love, but having liver in fl for years i can honestly say mosquitos was never a problem at all. And drive a convertible. Some times i would find mosquitos attempting to attack my legs in the car footwell. But simply turning on the ac would blow them out, and again that situation was very rare. But their is one thing you need not do, and thats wearing strong perfume or cologne. Those scents do attract mosquitoes. Wasps are a pain but easily solved when you destroy their nest. No nest no wasps. Their is a bug called no-see'em, and they will go after you at twilight and sundown. These bugs are not mosquitoes but they bite all the same. Noseem because you no see them . Basically they are biting gnats but much much smaller. And again most of the time not a problem.

As someone who lives in Mass, Im dying to get to Tampa in the next couple years. I hate the cold and am sick of it up here, how are apartments looking for rent and job opportunities? I work for the post office so by the time I get out there, should be good.

I used to love Tampa. I was raised there my whole life. Now I'm saving to leave, which is hard to do in Florida. I'm just tired of the politics, expensive economy, and crime. It's "booming" for money makers. And there is very little activities for children that I've found. Florida schools are beyond bad, and city traffic is a joke. I can deal with the storms. Heavy rain is actually welcomed so I can stay in the house and not deal with the madness outside of my door anymore.
@TampaFloridaLiving Жыл бұрын
Not goi b to lie… I just visited 5 states on a road trip and it’s eye opening how nice Tampa is compared to some other places. Our politics are dull compared to most cities, endless things to do for kids and yeah traffic is busier than it was but that’s because Tampa is becoming a bigger city than it was. It’s still not as bad as many other places. Take a trip and visit other cities and you may wish you stayed here. Get out of the house and there are tons of things to do! I challenge you to explore the many new attractions in Tampa and revisit some of the old ones too! You may surprise yourself! Best of luck to you!

I moved away from Tampa Florida 8 years ago, to New York, and I've never made a better decision in my life. It really brought to light how difficult they make it to just live in Florida, as opposed to New York where they do everything they can to help their residents live happily. I lived in Florida my entire life I never dreamed I'd leave but I'm glad I did.

@@emilioperez5164 I'm in Buffalo, and it's heaven lol You just got to understand, where in Florida you walk out and in your front yard are lizards and huge flying roaches, in New York you walk out and there's bunnies and deer and big fat black squirrels and it's like living in heaven, there's horses drawing carriages and it's either beautifully green, beautifully white, or beautifully autumn colors. In Florida I got the same weather every day all year long unless it was raining It was so humid No season and no deer in the front yard lol

Tampa st.pete Clearwater is a wonderful place to live. One of the best places in all if Florida. The problem is whats made it great is being ruined by people moving in. People move in and make what was originally lite and peaceful into noisy crowded and kaotic. All the reasons why they left other places become their blind mission to create in the very place theyve come to settle. Ruining what was good about the place. Some growth is ok. Too much growth attracts all the bad elements that made the previous location non sustainable. Florida has gone from being affordable. To focused on greed..

Do most HOA's handle cutting the lawn and maintaining the landscape?
@TampaFloridaLiving Жыл бұрын
No most don’t. They make sure you don’t paint your house neon green and help maintain the roads lol. There are communities where everything is included, but expect the hoa to be higher. The average hoa is probably $60-$90 per Month so if everything is included expect $200+ per month. It really is about the same to just pay a landscaper. Hope that helps!

I have a Florida story that involves my mother and her phobia of snakes. She was living in daytona Beach at the time, and i went to visit her for a week. One day, she takes me to the pet store so she can get dog food and show me the cool animals they had (they had a capuchin monkey that wasn't for sale as well as a few snakes and monitor lizards). We get to the checkout counter, and the cashier is holding two baby snakes (one in each hand). I don't remember what kind of snakes other than one of them was white with red eyes. At this point, i wasn't aware of how much my mother fears snakes, and it wasn't immediately obvious to me as my mom didn't show any signs of fear. Then, out of nowhere, my mom lets out a blood curdling scream that I've never heard her make before or since. Turns out, she didn't realize the snakes the guy was holding were real until the white one moved its head. I about died laughing. This was eight years ago and i still chuckle a little whenever i think about it.

Tampa is probably the best place in the sunshine state to live (Bay Area st pete too) it’s everything you want without too much traffic/crime. But if you really want to stay away from any city vibes or attitudes then just choose the outskirts.

I hear you and that’s the beauty… you can live just outside of Tampa and have all the country living you want or in the city and have a metro and things to do. My dads best friend moved here I. The 60’s and is a pretty large dairy farmer in brooksville. I’m actually meeting him for dinner and we are going to the casino tonight…. So you can have your cake and eat it to, just depends on what you like! Appreciate the comment and I understand that as it gets busier it’s not your cup of tea, but it’s not all bad!
