Quality vid as standard! My view on dividends is more tax personally and for the companies. Leave that money in the biz even if its not got growth opportunities I rather it buy back shares, leave it on the balance sheet or put it in bonds or something similar.

Does your spreadsheet calculations automatically adjust for the stocks that underwent 5 for 1 splits?

I'm giving you some tips now as a pro (it's the least I can do in exchange for your advice!): you should match the shutter speed of your camera to the electric frequency of your country. For example, in 50 Hz (PAL) regions, you should set your shutter speed to 180º (if using 25 FPS) or 1/50. That should avoid flickering for most lights. Also, more on the subjective side, but also important and technical: I would try not to get so close to the camera. Some viewers could feel a little bit intimidated and your face could get distorted for lens and physics reasons. Happy investing!

Energy Transfer is paying 22.5 % at 5.50 a share , the company I think is solid and will probably still be in business 50 years from now and I think the share price will more than double when the market gets over it's period. I think it would be an excellent inclusion along with other dividend stocks.

Tbh, there’s not a lot of channels that does fraud detection or detect ways companies are cooking the books, I’d like to find a channel that does good forensic accounting

Excellent video - looking at cashflow instead of EPS when evaluating a stock's dividend payout ratio is so important - is the company able to grow the balance sheet (their assets) and the future cashflows ? - I am a dividend growth investor myself and trust me, there are a lot of dividend yield traps out there with high dividend yield, high payout ratio, shrinking cashflows etc. - looking forward to your next video - greetings from Denmark

If a company borrowed cash taking on more debt would that increase the free cash flow number?
@HamishHodder4 жыл бұрын
No it would not be. The free cash flow number only included cash flows from normal operations plus the purchasing of longterm assets. Changes in debt are a financing cash flow

I know you're trying hard to have good diction, but you can scale it back a bit, sounds too forced and is fatiguing to listen to. Great content otherwise.

Great video Hamish. Do you know the rules around investing and AUSTUDY? I am a student that wants to build a small portfolio. How much can I buy before AUSTUDY gets removed or affected?

I think FCF it’s the main topic to understand before spend any money investing on a bussines. How about a video talking of stock buy-backs and total return?

Wonderfully said Hamish. Another gem. So many KZbinrs think about dividends all wrong. You're a breath of fresh air! Quick question: how do you factor in dividend into your valuation? I don't think there is a spot to input it in you analysis spreadsheet

You should not be buying shares of companies with the ROIC falling unless they are cyclical. Some awesome cyclical companies on sale most years.

In a REIT it would be impossible to avoid a high payout ratio.
@markwilliams-ny6tr4 жыл бұрын
Correct, they have to pay out 90% of their taxable income, a lot of LICs like the Wilson group have high payout ratios but have cash reserves to afford it and replenish those along the way .Best to look for a long history of paying dividends and companies that grow their dividends.

Yep, I agree entirely. As an exercise, have a look at Sydney Airport's payout ratio. (I'm not going to spoil the surprise)
