As a native North Idaho resident, I enjoy your channel and advice to newcomers. I agree, ditch the Idaho is full stickers, I have been seeing them in one form or another since the 60s. We know who you are anyway. Most Idahoans who are Natives or nearly lifelong will know your status by your Idaho plate # on your cars. Idaho plate numbers can basically be yours for life and you can even pass your low digit numbers on down to your family members. So when you sport the newer series of plate numbers, either by county or special interest plate. We see you. :) I will give you a hint though (that Montana has really picked up on) Vanity Plates. It might help, but y'all will still be suspect. There is also that pop vs cola thing and putting the word "the" before hwy/interstate numbers are a couple of ringers that help ID ya. When in Rome....

Thank you for your insightful comment! Love all the subtle (yet clever) ways that Idaho natives can identify each other, from the original license plate numbers to the unique linguistic quirks. Love it!

We’re rocking 2 AWD vehicles and can’t wait for my wife’s 50th when we pull the plug on WA forever.

On the bright side, whistlepigs are disappearing, which means that badgers will relocate. That's good news for your yards if you live rural. We've had up to 40 in the fenced in portion of our yard (100' x 100') years ago. I thinned them out with a .22 cal pellet/.22 LR rifle (hunting license needed.) Moved here in 2007, 25 mile commute and only had 4 days that I could not commute. 1 day the freeway was also iced over and 3 times the snow was too high. We usually only get 2-4" of snow at a time. Our community has an HOA, but our is very, very good. Low cost, no fines, members help each other.

Thanks for watching and contributing! And I hadn’t heard that about whistlepigs (truth be told, I had to good what a whistlepig was 😂). Good to know! Ang thanks for adding in the info about your commute & HOA. More often than not, most seem to be pretty happy with what they find in both of those areas. 🙂

@@Livinginboiseidaho-candidI live about 30 minutes south of Boise. I believe they are the Piute ground squirrel (Spermophilus mollis). Because of their prevalence in past years we have lots of birds of prey. Raven, hawks, golden and bald eagles. Now there are only a few around our house now and none south to Mountain Home, Grand View, Glens Ferry and that region.

Someone who is anti-HOA has CLEARLY never lived near someone who refused to mow their lawn or chooses to paint their home in Caribbean orange and pink...when they're trying to sell their house!!! There are excellent purposes for an HOA, and until one experiences it, they just can't understand. Great video!

Right!?! HOAs have their place for sure! Who doesn’t want to have their property value maintained (and ultimately GROW exponentially). Appreciate the view and comment!🙂

Marcie, do you have videos on various neighborhoods in Boise, especially areas most suitable to folks over 65? Areas that are near the center of Boise rather than a widely expansive suburb appealing to retirees from metro areas like LA, NYC, Houston, Chicago etc.

Hi! Thanks for the question! We have a series that will cover just this on our calendar to film in the future. We LOVE getting video requests! Thank you! 🙏 And then, as I know you’ve now seen (🙂) but I’m mainly posting for future viewers of this comment, here is our video dedicated to retiring in Idaho and thr surrounding Boise area: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGSTk6ugj9V4aNUsi=FZKbH21ahS_xgBHY

@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid Yes, thanks. It would be interesting to see interviews with people who have relocated to Boise from all sorts of places, New York, Los Angeles, Texas, Florida, New England, etc. including young and old, couples, singles, families, and especially retirees over 65! I suppose there are folks like us who want a nice quiet location near amenities, especially within walking distance, but still within the city itself rather than out in the suburbs....

That sticker thing was so funny! My father in law has been there 5 years now and occasionally will complain about Californians running ID..I always tell him. Where did you move from? 😂
