Dude...somehow every video you put up is full of disinformation. The hammer spring only has to overcome the regulated pressure, not fill pressure. This 1 to 1 ratio you talk about is just wrong. Shimming the hammer spring is common in a PCP at this price point. The springs are inconsistent and can sag over time. The AvengeX in .25 is known to be very accurate and powerful with slugs. It's a cheap Chinesium price point airgun that's been billed as the best thing since sliced bread. You should know you will have to do your own work on it before you buy it. The last video of yours I watched talked about how slugs have to leave the barrel "straight out"...what a bunch of nonsense. Every projectile arcs and having the barrel on a different horizontal plane than the scope is adjusted out by the scope regardless of the projectile. That said...I just bought another Gen1 Gauntlet .25 on closeout for 200 bucks and it shoots 50fpe right out of the box with NSA 26.8gr slugs with decent accuracy and one hole groups with JSB pellets.

This guy is the definition of the dunning kruger effect. I feel bad for anyone following his advice. Last video I watched of his; he took off the barrel band and it gave him more accuracy. He thought it was because it was tilting the barrel up. Even if that were true, it has nothing to do with accuracy. More likely he fell ass backward into getting his barrel harmonics to work with the ammo and pressure he was using.

Agree with others your "tune" is way off. I have the .25 Avenge-X and its a freak of nature in its consistency and accuracy. I think its the person behind the trigger more to blame than the company. Put it back to stock settings and shoot it, or try a known proven tune from others and try that. That simple. I think your way off basis and bashing something from your mistake. Airguns of EVERY brand do have issues and are fixable. If your expecting perfection out of the box get out of air guns all together. Only difference besides the caliber obviously is the air hole in the barrel. The 177 being the smallest and 25 largest, 22 is in the middle. Yea there’s things that can be done to make it more powerful but OTB the 25 cal is the most efficient and powerful.

I don't know any rifle that replaces the hammer spring. Caliber changes usually include barrel, pellet probe and mag. You should be able to achieve good results with the adjustments provided. Perhaps your hammer spring is weak, or needs shimming. No rifle is perfect. My Avenger 177cal has a hammer spring that's too strong. So unless I shoot slugs or 13.43 or higher pellets I will have a decending shot string. It's still fine because my rifle shoots 10.5gr crossman ultra mags fantastic. I just have to tune for around 840 to 870fps. It's super quiet with my Donny FL and I get over 100 shots. I could change the hammer spring. But I prefer to work within its parameters. That way if I need upmost efficiency, I just use heavier pellets.

Hello Keith, What is your regulator pressure? What is your extreme spread? My .177 Avenger's regulator is slow to refill. I'm seeing an ES of 26fps or more. Mine shoots 10.5gr pellets well. I don't want to go any heavier. If I went to a heavier pellet, I might as well use a .22 pcp. R, Steve

@@steveinla8963 My reg is about 1,100 to 1,200psi. My Hammer spring is the lowest possible. I have gotten around 150 shots with this tune. But since it's not the best tune for efficiency the shots will decrease gradually over the 150. But this is slight from shot to shot and still has typical standard deviation from each shot. As it may shoot 850fps and then 845 and 852 and so on. But use heavy pellets and its extremely consistent. I absolutely love the Avenger. But to get the heavy pellets shooting efficiently, I up the reg pressure and hammer spring. Especially using Nielsen 12.5 slugs, or 16.2gr Beast by JSB.

I'm not a pro by any means but I've been messing with pcp rifles for 10 yrs. I can't break them down but I do have some ideal of how to tune them to my likening. I always order any changeable air rifles in 25 cal because it's gonna have more power out the box normally. That way when I switch it over to a smaller caliber it has the pre-set power for 25 cal. I have a FX Impact, FX Crown and the Avenge X and I ordered them in 25 cal and when I change them to a smaller caliber they still shoot great. Just have to reduce the reg or hammer spring depending on what I want my shot count to be and the power/fps I desire when I drop down in calibers. My fps on my avenge X is as listed, 177 cal (970-985), 22 cal 955-970, 25 Cal 915-925. And that depends on the pellet weight as to the fps difference. I guess it also depends on what part of the country you live in. Case and point, I brought a 25 cal Sidewinder. A of AZ claimed the maxium fps they could get with a 33.95 grain pellet/slug was 1035 fps. Mine came out the box shooting 34 grain slugs/pellets @ sub-sonic speed/fps. I re-set my reg to 130 and turned the power wheel down 15 clicks and the started tuning the gun to the fps I desired. Once I got back to the 15 clicks, I started turning the PW up to see if it would produce more power and it did. So that told me the gun wasn't tuned to the max out the box. I now have it set to where I can run 27-28 grain pellets @ 965-970 fps or 34 grain slugs @970-975 fps just by turning the PW up a couple of clicks or down a click or two. And at those fps the gun is accurate. Also with a 130 reg pressure, I can still make the gun go sub-sonic just by turning the PW up, and YES, I use a chrony. My point being the math doesn't always add up !!!

I set my reg at 2400 psi and with JSB Hades or FX ATOMICS the gun shoots better than my Ruger 10/22 at 75 yards and closer. My hammer is still factory and never touched it. Being that I said this the .22 cal IS WAY more efficient on air and overall shot count. My .22 cal NV Liberty gets 80 shots per fill pushing 15.4 grain Daisy HPs @ 900 FPS with heavier pellets the FPS does drop some but the accuracy doesn’t and even the shot count goes up to 90 shots with the 25 grain heavy pellets in .22 v/s 15.4 grain pellet overall. Great platform that is more affordable than a hammerless system which is unquestionably better in many way. They will become the future of Airgunning hopefully. Love the hammerless systems and tune ability. So easy and efficient.

The regulator sets the pressure you shoot with, this means that the hammer/spring only figths the regulator pressure NOT the fill pressure therefore it doesn't matter how high the pressure in your bottle is. However if it does, there must be another issue. I think your regulator is broken (reg creep) maybe the belleville stack is to weak, maybe the regulator leaks or your gauge is broken/incorrect.

@serfillustrated4018
@serfillustrated4018 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, he is really confused. In his "tune video" he had the transfer port on it lowest setting and claimed that the tank having too much pressure is why he couldnt get more fps. Then he lowered the pressure and turned the transfer port up. When all he had to do was open up the transfer port because it is essentially just a choke. And while that reg can restrict flow speed as it fills its cavity. Its final cavity pressure is still measured in PSI right on the gauge. And that PSI in that cavity is NOT affected by fill pressure. It would pointless to even have a "regulator" as hes explaining it when the gun already has a transfer port aka a flow regulator.

If I had these many problems I would buy a different airgun. I've never heard of these many problems b fore. I do know if the regulators are bad, in which most cases they are, you'll be having problems with the airgun tuning. Also you have to mess with harmonics and stiffin the barrels up inside the shrouds. If these things are correct there shouldn't be problems on the budget.

I see most comments are against James. Perhaps rightfully so. But I don't think he is lying. He is just telling us what happened with his 25 Av-X......................... It has me wondering: James, did you buy a 25 rifle, or a 177 plus a 22 and 25 conversion kit? It does make sense that the 25 conv kit should come with a stouter spring than the 177, but then again I know nothing on this subject...................... I also wondered if you simply had a defective spring, But then at 6:25 you show the 25 cal Avenger spring side by side with the Av-X spring, and the Avenger does look more stout. Of course, I suppose it is possible that the smaller spring is made of some material or designed in someway so as to be as strong as the larger spring? I certainly would not know. Either way, your washer appears to have solved the issue on your particular gun................... I know these individual guns vary, or so it seems. Never having cleaned my unregulated 22 Origin, I often shoot 1/4" 5 shot groups at 25 yd or sometimes even .19"(but not usually), by carefully shooting in the PSI range I have come to learn it likes best. Not a whole bunch of shots, less than 20 or 30 max, but very accurate. From what I have seen, most Umarex Origin shooters are not doing quite that good. So I suppose the rifles vary some.

I just don’t understand your insistence that the regulator is a “flow regulator” and not a “ pressure regulator”. The job and how it actually functions is to maintain it’s set pressure in the plenum when ever air is expelled from the plenum and thereby causing the pressure to decrease. The regulator flows enough air to cause the pressure to reach the set point and then it will be closed. It isn’t open or closed but has a throttling action as it approaches the set point pressure and should be closed at set point. The hammer valve on the other hand acts as a poppet valve that when the valve is struck by the hammer, which is preloaded by the hammer spring, pops open, for a duration determined by the opposition of a spring and the plenum pressure trying to close it or keep the valve closed. The hammer valve functions as an air flow control valve. My point: if the regulator functions as to control the “pressure” it is a pressure regulator and it don’t give squat about what the flow is doing. Can you explain it further?

I bought a 177 avenge x,and I am not impressed. Shoots all over the place. Regulator creeps,was like it since I got it. Will be returning for refund

I was having issues too, check the barrel set screws are not too tight. I snugged mine and it helped. Still get a flier or two per group but a lot better.
