Always check the capacity of the rear axle for your car and the best method is filling up on a ground level and filling until the fluid starts dripping out of fill plug.

Great video! Just a heads up, the CLK 55 AMG has a slightly different differential design but still uses 14mm hex for the drain bolts so everything here in this video will work for the AMG too. The fuel filter however, if your CLK was made on or after 2004 it's possible that you will not see your filter in the same location as in this video. That's because Mercedes switched the fuel filter/fuel pump design to sit directly inside the fuel tank via a dual pump design which is both good and bad. Those later designed fuel filter/pump systems lasted longer and were more reliable but are much more expensive to replace.
@BenzAddiction2 ай бұрын
Great info, it is more difficult to replace the internal filter and pump as well. The car in the video is a 2004 MY05, my 2003 CLK500 had the internal pump and filter.

Yes, even many mechanics check the rear axle for leaks and if dry, they leave it alone.

Hello thank you for the great content I have w211 7 speed gear took it used 200k kilometers How can I check about the transmission and rear axle oil quality and level ?
@BenzAddiction17 күн бұрын
Hi, 7 speed requires a service every 60k km, I have a complete video on the level and service please check it out. Rear axle: just open the top plug ans see if any fluid comes out, if not replace the fluid.

@@BenzAddiction if last oil transmission change from 100k kilometers normal usage for the same car Can be changed safely on 200k kilometers ?
@BenzAddiction15 күн бұрын
@mohamedmagdy9553 60K is the recommended interval. But my ML350 722.6 transmission got his first service at 200k km and the shifting was smooth, no problem.

You should everytime open first the fill plug, because if its not gonna open and you already dried it, you have a big problem. And you should put so much oil in, until something come out from the fill plug

I don’t think you filled enough fluid. You should fill it and wait until the fluid drops to a last drop then that is the right amount.
@BenzAddiction8 ай бұрын
Well, do you think if you open the fill plug, any fluid will drip out? Also there is another risks on these cars, the 3 seals should not get over excited by overfilling at this stage, or they might start leaking...
@brianhuh61708 ай бұрын
@@BenzAddiction when you open the fill plug, if any fluid come out then you filled too much. Also if no dripping that’s when you filled low. Since it don’t have a dipstick, the car must be park in ground level position. You fill the fluid and just wait until only a few drops dripping and that is a correct fluid level. But only a few or little more fluid should be okay. After fluid changes, my car got so much quieter than before. Good fix for under $20 diy

Over the years , the oil level also declines due to vapour losses out the breather. This then accelerates the oil quality decline and can lead to problems if never drained and filled with new oil. I changed mine a year ago , 2005 CLK using 1.3 litres of Castrol Syntrax Universal Plus 75w-90 Fully Synthetic. MB Spec. 235.8 I filled it until it just starts to overflow ,, using a manual pump from a bottle. I put a small amount of silastic gasket maker on the threads of the plugs. Car should be level ,ie raised at the front as well as the rear if working off the floor with jacks. Well done Max, good advice.
