Good info, thanks for sharing. I noticed you are using Foxwell scanner to monitor the AC compressor, can you share which model scanner you used? And is it enough for average diy maintenance on these cars?

Hi Max, thanks for another interesting video. You seem to have more tools than the average dealership! I have a similar but different problem on my 2006 CLK350. The AC works, as does the heater, but it doesn't seem to have any temperature regulation. It is either full cold or fully heat. The only way that I can regulate it is with the fan speed. Any ideas?

Good video and quite helpful. I must say the old spark plugs looked pretty bad. They looked like the car was not driven for a while given the rust on the threads. Some suggestions (perhaps a bit of nit picking): Applying some dielectric grease to the outside of the coil pack connections (where the spark plug wires fit on the coils) will help keep moisture out and easier to remove next time (not on the electrodes but the sealing surface of the boot). Applying electric cleaner (Liqui Moly) to the coil connections is not a bad idea either. Also, changing the Crankshaft Position Sensor while you have removed the driver side valve cover is a good opportunity. With the cover on, the sensor, which sits behind the engine, becomes much harder. Mercedes procedure indicates that you should remove the MAF in order to gain access to the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I feel that disconnecting the MAF connection may cause other issues that I like to avoid. Therefore, I replace the sensor when I have the covers off. Thanks again, and keep rock'in MO

Will the solenoid go bad entirely or may it retain some residual function (but not work fully)? My AC in my CLK works, but it is not working wonders in terms of generating cold air. There appears to be sufficient refrigerant in the the system and the cooling performance might be normal; I'm just not sure. Flaps are also OK, i.e., I don't have the infamous clicking noises from the dashboard.
@BenzAddiction
@BenzAddiction Күн бұрын
Everything is possible. Depending on what position the solenoid gets stuck. Best would be to diagnose using a good scanner to check the evaporator and all the ducts temperature.

@@BenzAddiction Thanks a lot, for the reply! I have two very good scanners (Benz-specific ones) and they don't show any fault codes. The air temperature responds to dial operation, i.e., when I reduce the temperature on the controls, the air gets colder. The cooling performance is just not "blowing me away." :) I've heard that one shouldn't use Japanese cars as a benchmark as they have wild AC cooling performance. On another European car I owned, the cooling performance was similarly "weak" compared to Japanese cars. When you say "check ... all the ducts temperature" are you suggesting a real thermometer to measure the ducts, or are you talking about read out values shown by a scanner (live data)?.
@BenzAddiction

Yes, the EU A/C might not compete with some Japanese ones. But it should be adequate. Yes check the temperature on the scanner.

Hello, thank you for this! I made my own tool but I can only replicate this on port 4 on my 1996 W202 (which gives me 1 blink, so that is good). I have an issue with ABS, but when I try to plug it into port 6 to read it never blinks any code back. Same for all other pins. Is there anything else I have to do to activate the other ports, like start the car?
@BenzAddiction
@BenzAddiction 3 күн бұрын
@Krisemann Hi, only "ignition on" is enough, not all of the cars have all of the modules, The pin number you need for diagnostic access to the 41996 W22 ABS module depends on the type of connector it has: For Cab-mounted ECUs: * Obtain codes: Back probe pin 15 of the X1 connector to ground for 1 second. * Clear codes: Back probe pin 15 of the X1 connector to ground for 3 seconds. For Frame-mounted ECUs with all 12 pin connectors: * Obtain codes: Back probe pin 10 of the X1 connector to ground for 1 second. * Clear codes: Back probe pin 10 of the X1 connector to ground for 3 seconds. For Frame-mounted ECUs with all 18 pin connectors: * Obtain codes: Back probe pin 15 of the X1 connector to ground for 1 second. * Clear codes: Back probe pin 15 of the X1 connector to ground for 3 seconds. You can find this information on page 35 of the Wabco document you linked: www.wabco-customercentre.com/catalog/docs/mm0112_web_en.pdf Important Note: * Back probing involves carefully inserting a probe into the back of the connector to make contact with the desired pin. This should be done with caution to avoid damaging the connector. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

great content: Question- I got the ESP malfunction dash error and I run OBD2 got a P0120 code so I removed the pedal assembly on my 2005 C240. Then another code the one you got P0122 also displayed. Then , I put back the pedal assembly and the P0122 is gone , but the P0120 still there. After readings on reddit, is the P0122 just confirming an open circuit-since I removed it , or did I just confirm that the pedal is not the problem? My symptoms: P/N-engine revs about 1000rpm depressing pedal no response, but if I shift to D/R the car drives ... I'm trying to narrow it down if it is the Pedal or is there another TPS in the engine bay? I heard those RARELY go bad.. Thanks in Advance!!!
