less than 3 minutes to talk about the most valuable thing about this city: its world heritage, unique in the world. If you are not interested in culture, it is NOT your city. If you go to Toledo and only enter a museum that is actually a STORE and do not enter Mosques, Synagogues, unique Churches of specific medieval societies in Toledo, or one of the richest cathedrals in the world, it is normal that you will only be left with that you have pushed your child's stroller. There is life in the historic center of Toledo. They live longer than you say, triple that!! And the city festivals and major events are celebrated in the ancient city. I don't think the video you make is constructive, because you really know little about this city and if you woke up with a changed psychology, Toledo is not to blame.

I just finished a 7-day vacation in Spain. Started in Madrid, visited Toledo and then spent three days in Barcelona. Visited many sites and attractions. My favorite attraction by far was Toledo with Monserrat being my second favorite. First, don't even bother using your psychology degree to analyze people. Way off. Second, how can you not expect that pushing a stroller around such and old historic site that is so original to be such a complicated task?

If your psychology courses tell you that - travelers fit for Toledo should be "easy to please", "like everything", "have little travel experience" (like me, who only lived in 8 countries and only travelled extensively in 24 world-wide), "not picky about good food" (there are several excellent restaurants in Toledo proper out of the the 14 or 15 in Toledo's upper town (there is even a McDonald's on Plaza Zocodover), if that's not enough, then take one of the Escalators to (litteraly) downtown, below the old Toledo. Its name is Santa María de Benquerencia. There you'll find another 15 restaurants, plus - especially for American tourists - a Burger King, a Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a McDonald's somewhere - then you can demand your money back. In short, travellers to Toledo should be inexperienced people like those know-nothings who included Toledo in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites almost 40 years ago. I don't hate you, but perhaps you should open up a little and leave your in-laws behind.

Has to be moving 24/7, but in the hiking carrier he is perfectly fine.

I just returned from a two week trip to Europe visiting 7 different countries with a group of 24 people. Toledo was our last stop and one of the groups favorite places we visited! Please check it out for yourself. I love Toledo and have been there 6 times! It is so full of culture, beauty and history! The cathederal is my favorite of any other I've visited throughout Europe. I encourage you to go beyond the Store Museum and get off the tourist route. There is a fun train ride that takes you around the city for some amzing views. We ziplinned across the river next to the San Martin Bridge which had breathtaking views and shopped and ate in restaurants off the tourist path. I think pushing a stroller with a young child would be difficult on the narrow cobble stone streets and pehaps clouded your appreciation for this beautiful and amazing city! Please give Toledo a chance - one of my favorite places!

I have been to Toledo twice and I would go again just to see El Greco's Burial of Count Orgaz in Sto. Tomas. I never tire of that magnificent painting. Read up on the painting before you go see it to fully appreciate its mastery. That alone is worth the trip, Also the Transparencia in the Catedral is not to be missed if you want to see baroque are in all it's 3-d glory. But no, I wouldn't enjoy old-town Toledo with a baby in a stroller I'd be afraid the baby would fall on the steep narrow cobbled streets or get hit by a car. But for people who love art and architecture Toledo is heaven. Buy the wristband for like 12 euros and you can get into a whole bunch of historic sites and the wristband is good for 24 hours, too. I agree in the old town you have to do your homework if you want to eat well. It's best to focus on what a place does well if you want the best experience. In Toledo, we decided to look traditional foods of the region (venison, partridge, trout, other rustic foods) in a traditional style restaurant away from the main square. It was awesome for that. Toledo is not a nightlife spot. But no place needs to be all things to all people.

How is a historical UNESCO site not aesthetic?

You make great points. I agree. I think we were looking for the wrong features of entertainment. It’s hard sometimes to travel as a family and have to please different personalities at a city that offers one thing and not the other you know? also I guess is hard for Americans (not only from us) to understand the European mentality. Maybe not try to put everything on a competition plan. A expediency comparison. In general they walk a lot, and have difficulty to visit something with a value it's worth it
@marcof.7403 ай бұрын
I want to open one more topic. If you noticed such an aversion between comments it's because, even if americans are perfectly aware about life in province, something seems to turn off when it arrives to tourist's locations. They tend to have a big customer experience attitude. Unfortunately this not only gives you disappoint, but also sounds like a blasphemy for locals. The reason is to desire that everything would work as a shopping centre, a mall, makes you easily be hated.
