For people who say oh he went out the baseline the baseline changes when there is a defensive player in the baseline cuz then people would just make a huge wall in front of second or any base and you would be out because they would tag you or you would have to go around so as long you are able to make a play of dodge a defensive player in the baseline you still have a little bit of movement each way on the baseline

I'm the middle of this video there was a play at second where left field threw to the short stop as a cutoff and then he threw to the second basemen that one should have been called out. This is why I like the rules of Finnish baseball better. Within those rules is a runner is between 2nd and 3rd base you throw the ball the 3rd base. No touching is needed. It goes the same way with all the bases: you throw the ball the further away base. Between 3rd and home you throw home (of course).

But also: Finnish baseball field is much bigger than the baseball field so that might also be the reason why they don't play tag in the middle of the game there. Actually, from my understanding of the rules, a baseline is only established when a tag is attempted, so a baserunner actually CAN run into the outfield if he wants. Once a tag is attempted, the rules state that a runner can only run within 3 feet of a straight line between the runner's current position and the base he is advancing towards. The ump probably ruled that the dive was within 3 feet of his position, so he's safe. Using the grass as a measure of legal running isn't good, because stadiums like the Blue Jays' only have dirt at the mound and the bases. The rest of the infield is grass.
