Good one Krusty. The late, Honourable Tom Mitchell, champion skier, and MP, and his wife Eylene loved Pinnibar and Gibbo. They skied there a few times, camping out at night. It was their 'backyard', from Towong where they lived. Before Conservation and track closures became prominent, they, and some friends drove a couple of ex-Army Jeeps up onto the Kosciusko plateau. No winches, but they used ropes to slingshot each other up, and further up. I read about it, and it sounded pretty rugged, no roads FFS! I've ridden motorbikes in the snow on Mt. Stirling, near Mt. Buller, before the tracks were closed, what a freakin' hoot, but I'd be nabbed for doing that nowadays. Ah, the follies of our youth. Thanks for your video mate. All the best. 😀👍

Thanks RDA, thanks for the kind words and the ongoing support for myself and the channel, it means a lot. I’ll start firstly with … the camera angles, it’s a lot of hard work, but I reckon the audience love it, and it will put you in front of the competition. The rubbish being left around is just a part of life, it’s the next generation I believe, you’re never going to change them. It will take to they start closing things down and they will realise then. We just have to keep doing our bit. I like the idea of the designated channels, maybe not the whole tracks, just the tight pinches etc. getting Hema and Rooftop Maps to put them on the maps would be a bonus if it ever went ahead. I’m hoping I’ll be calling up going over the Simmo later this year. 👍🏼 The troopy is pretty solid on the tracks, but the next episode has me thinking twice, hearing some noises I don’t like. Enjoyed this episode Gav, your passion for the High Country and the outdoors in general shows through in all your content. I sincerely worry that more and more of our forests will be closed off to the general public ( and the mess some of these "Muppets" leave behind isn't helping the cause). I signed the petition recently, but with only just over 20,000 names on it out of Victoria's population of almost 7 Million it's going to be a hard slog. Have a read of Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, because I'm thinking if the state government don't lock it up the Fed's will. Anyway, keep up the good work and know there are lot's of us out here that get heaps of enjoyment following you travels. Cheers.👍

Great crawling footage on this vid Gav, those tracks look mightly steep and very rocky in places, surprised you had so much grip tbh! Beautiful area and the views are spectacular, nearly rivals Billy Goats and yes I do believe the more difficult the track a dedicated UHF channel would certainly help out especially if you get stuck! I like how you just take all tracks like this very steady, you have a real wall crawler there, instead of the mall crawler! LOL The weather looked awesome too, albeit the windy conditions! Are those tracks closed a little longer that the ones that open up on the weekend before cup day? You would be getting real familiar with these tracks now as this must be about the 3rd or 4th time you have been up here! Glad you didn't have to stop for the salt, maybe the pizza helped! hahhaha

@@Lee-astrololee thanks Lee, the troopy loves tackling the tracks nice and slow and steady, it’s geared perfect for it, not so much the mall carparks. 🤦🏽🤣 Both ends of Mt Pinnibar Track are closed due to the track conditions deteriorating pretty badly, and I think there are also a few trees down on the east side also. My goal was to drive it so show people the track conditions after the seasonal closures… but that didn’t happen. I’ve driven it a few times without filming also. I love the area, plus is so much quieter than most other places. Pretty sure I’ll drive it many more times ! Thanks for watching and the support you show the channel. 👍🏼

@@damo.77 that’s the reason I try drive these tracks after the seasonal closures, I pissed that I couldn’t drive it ( the whole Pinnibar Trk ) If you’re not confident that was a good move, some deep ones on the western side and some big exposed bedrock in spots, but it was even worse in the eastern side, as to why it’s still closed now. If your talking about Mt Gibbo from over Buenba Track - Paddy Joy way up to Gibbo itself it’s not to bad, couple of wombat holes up near the top from memory but you’ll see them as you’re driving up to them, the other side heading down to the east has one bad section, you’ll see it in the last video, just walk it first. You’ll see the best line pretty much straight through the middle of it. The rest is just normal track, wombat holes, few Little Rock steps s and some steep sections across to Pinnibar. Shady Creek Upper is a good drive, gets steep ( I mean steep ) as you come down into the Shady Creek, probably wouldn’t attempt it if it’s been raining for a while, would be slippery as. Hope that’s answers your questions mate. My next video dropping ( last one for a few months ) in 2 weeks will show some good places to visit around that area. Thanks for watching mate. I reckon it is also mate, it would be hard to police it though. Wouldn’t have to be the whole track as such, just the more difficult sections or pinch points etc. if it ever was implemented it would be good if Hema and Rooftop maps got onboard and put in on their maps. @@jerryrubinek8905 Hey Jerry. That whole area is a seasonal closure. The gate is right on the Snowy Mountain Highway. Pretty sure it’s closed on the Kings Bday weekend. Last year it closed a lot earlier due to the brumby cull so I can’t really tell you the exact date. At a guess I’d say the Tuesday after the long weekend. It’s well worth the visit to the Blue Water Holes, just make sure you have some appropriate foot wear that you don’t mind getting wet, rather then taking your footwear off at every crossing. So many seasonal closures mate that don’t seem to be opening up again, more so in the Snowy Mountains region. Cheers for watching mate, and dropping a comment, hope I sort of answered it for you.

Be a pointless exercise Crusty, I run log trucks now and the main logging roads are sign posted clearly with the channel, km markers and track name but come the end of the week the 4x4’s start turning up, you can call till your hearts content but only 1 out of 10 use the uhf properly… It gets highly exciting when you meet a fully loaded 4x4 travelling way to fast on a corner.
