Ah, this is nice to see. I used to teach players in matches in 3S all the time, it was always so satisfying when they learned in the match itself. Important to make them realize you're teaching them by not coming across as trolly. Doing the same move/tactic/sequence over and over can tick a lot of players off if the intent isn't clear. Standing and moving without hostility was a good way to get your intentions across. I wish more experienced players did this for newer players, it's very important.

This is really awkward because the game doesn't teach you about this. There's no tutorial, it doesn't come with a printed manual, the bottom scrolling tips don't talk about this and a lot of other stuff. It's sorta frustrating.

Fernando Lins lol all the veteran tekken players learned this without a tutorial back in the late 90s
@wolfking45567 жыл бұрын
True, but we should gladly accept more easy to access information in this game if we truly want the community to grow otherwise sooner or later only the "veteran tekken players" will ever buy from this franchise again making it baiscally shut down and then we'll have no tekken at all.
@BloodPlusPwn7 жыл бұрын
Tekken just kind of assumes everyone who's going to be competitive has always been competitive within the series. There's this really weird "old guard" mentality all around it. Especially with it being such a complicated game to get into. Regardless, you learn the game by playing and watching and labbing. Don't expect the game to learn itself for you.
@wolfking45567 жыл бұрын
Of course no one should expect the game to learn itself, but at least giving the sources and tools needed in order to learn (e.g. tutorials) so that no one actually needs to go to the internet or go with the "trial and error" approach in order to get anything done
@BloodPlusPwn7 жыл бұрын
Why? I mean seriously, that's how life works. I do think frame data should be in the game but literally everything can understood by just going into practice mode, going through movelists and trying things out. That's the best way to learn it whether you google it or not and you should do it anyway. Even if they include shit in the game.

This is what the FGC used to be before online. You'd take someone's quarters and then show them why they lost. Getting beaten by someone better than you made you better. Nowadays, people don't know how to lose with dignity and self reflection (LTG, DSP). They're more worried about their win/loss records than they are about getting better or encouraging more people to pick up the game.

It's not that surprising considering how little the game does to teach basic Tekken literacy. It does tell you the Deathfist input but doesn't tell you something that looks like a Street Fighter low forward is universally punishable or that the crouch block state is a good way to access WS moves. Sure, these ultimately aren't very advanced concepts but with 50 other things you're trying to learn at the same time it can be difficult know what to prioritize.
@arulwalde41104 жыл бұрын
Such a wholesome video, love you Aries!
@VikingII7 жыл бұрын
My problem is how the hell do you react to the lows? they're pretty fast man.
@qt2ez5487 жыл бұрын
VikingII There are some safe lows to allow for chip damage. This is because someone with amazing defensive skills won't just be able to block everything every time while avoiding unblockables and also breaking throws. It let's the match progress. Now, the unsafe lows are a different story. Many are seeable to the degree you can react to it if you know what to look for and that just takes time. An unsafe low that you cannot see and does good damage would be Kazuya's sweep (➡️*️⃣⬇️↘️➕4️⃣). This one is more for the character using it because if he didn't have it, many of his other moves would not be threatening. It all takes time, and sometimes you will feel some characters are cheap or better, but you need to remember this is an extremely balanced game, and it comes down to knowledge every time.
@VikingII7 жыл бұрын
qt2ez oh I see, so, generally speaking, lows that just poke for a hit or two are supposed to be non- reactable but the knockdowns and launchers are supposed to be slow and reactable. i find it strange that the stronger low moves lead to a lot of damage but only punishable by something like a while standing 4 which is like 10 damage or something lame
@Kjernekar7 жыл бұрын
Some lows are slower than other, so you CAN react to themm especially if you're llready aware that they might be coming. Take Bryans Snake edge for example (d/f + 3). It's very slow for a low move, but it's also a launcher that is homing. It has a VERY distinct ad easily recognizable animation if you compare it to Bryans other lows and moveset. If you are somewhat experienced fighting against Bryan in tekken (and to the point where you can focus on the match and not trying to remeber how to do your own moves in the middle of the game, distracting yo) and you know that he MIGHT use the move any time soon it's very easy to block and punish ON REACTION. This only gets easier as you play more, but sometime you WILL be jhit by it regardless due to being counterhit or something. Me personally, I can't remeber the last time I got hit by it more than once per 10 matches against a bryan. Lows like regular d+4 and character unique pokes that are faster than 17 frames are generally considered "unseeable", meaning you have to predict them. This comes from reading your opponent patter and waying the risk vs the reward of trying to block low, as well as how beneficial a low move beig used would be for your opponent. In addition, good movement makes it harder for your enemy to hit with the lows at all.
@SmallManOnUniversalCredit7 жыл бұрын
VikingII most knockdown lows are launch punishable, there are only few lows that knockdown which aren't launch punishable such as Paul qcf1+2, Leo FC df3 and kings cd1
@qt2ez5487 жыл бұрын
There is an answer for that too. If your opponent is using seeable, high damage lows, and you cannot get a good punishing combo off then low parries are the way to go. In this game, low parries can be converted into corkscrew combos, which is the first case since low parries have been added into Tekken. The great thing is low parries aren't any more difficult than just blocking low, so you have options for punishing.

@glc_zashi95417 жыл бұрын
Yep, I had a similar problem with soul calibur. i would duck something or block low, then try to punish with a standing move but end with a ws. the wrong ws at that. i hated those things until namco gave us its innovative Aris KZbin Tutorial Mode... AYTM for short.
@Kjernekar7 жыл бұрын
Well, they're not ONLY used for that. Kazuya for example has no fast and safe mid poke with decent range that can avoid punch-parries, meaning Ka players often use his WS for to poke and start an offense. They do this by using "instant WS+4 " out of a wavedash or just a quick crouch and WS+4. You can also use WS moves to mix up your opponent on offense, like using ws+2 as devil jin in their face, as the onlny mid launchers he has that aren't WS are all launch punishable. His WS+2 is NOT launch punishable.
@chamajid7 жыл бұрын
Kjernekar Too technical jargon for me. can u provide controller movments instead?
@Kjernekar7 жыл бұрын
Oh sorry, it's hard realizing what newer players don't know when I've played the game for so long. Ok here goes (examples will be given for a PS controler): 1 - Left punch (Square) 2 - Right punch (Triangle) 3 - Left Kick (X) 4 - Right Kick (Circle) f - forward b -back d - down u - up N - Neutral (when you don't press ANY movement keys). d/f refers to the combination of "down" and "forward", maing it "down-forward" Wave dash is a type of movement some characters can do (for example Kazuya) by inputting f, N, d, d/f in that order. The N means that there needs to be a time frame between the first "f" and the first "d" where you're not pressing any movement buttons. This timeframe doesn't need to be long, just a couple of miliseconds is enough tbh. Kazuya doesn't have a special "wavedash + 4" attack, so because he is in crouch during a wavedash a While standing 4 comes out instead. By quick crouch I just mean crouching for a very short time and. Press d/b, release it and press the button for the move you want to come out as a WS move. Practing timing on the fast crouch, as you can also do it slower if you want. WS - While standing (the state where you go from crouching to standing. To do a WS4 move just crouch and right after you release the crouch input press 4) WR - While running (Running state) NH - Natural hit (hitting the opponent normally, where he doesn't block it) CH - Counterhit (hitting the opponent while he is doing a move or pressing buttons to do a move)

That was almost as good as when Maximilian tried to teach Benny how to play Street Fighter V.
