This song by Avi is one that tops my request list, so I am once again in Coco's debt. The harmonizing with Kevin's cello is my absolute favorite part of this song (well, and the beautiful video). The two sides of Avi - Nature Boy (fields) and LA based musician (pier) singing a doubled vocal lends a dreamlike quality to the piece. Unfortunately, he has said he wouldn't perform this, or some of the other songs from the Sage and Stone EP, live unless he was able to have string accompaniment as he feels that makes up so much of the feel of the song. I was so thrilled to see this in my notifications when I got home!

What a great song! And that harmonizing was beautiful. Totally caught me offguard. Thanks for watching! Have a wonderful day.

So much to say...Avi released this EP while still with ptx. The cello was Kevin. I think the strings are just beautiful in this song. Avi said he sang the parts until they produced the sound and feeling he was trying to convey. Your interpretation is excellent! With Avi there is usually several layers of meaning. The most obvious one being he came from the "fields" (countryside and mountains) to the "pier" which is in Los Angeles, the city. And as you see in the video, he needs to get back to nature. Thanks Saeed. Have a great one, cheers!

Also, he released this song in April, announced leaving ptx in May and played his last show with them in September. All in 2017. I think this song was telling everyone, I have to get back to who I am and where I need to be.

Thanks so much for this request and for sharing a bit of the backstory. Beautiful song once again. It seems as we progress in life most of us come to the conclusion of returning to nature and getting back to basics or a simpler life. Avi's music reminds me of these kinds of themes. Cheers!

I really like the video of Avi's older song post PTX. Even back then Avi was writing incredible lyrics & music. Such an Amazing talent. Great commentary on the lyrics. Avi's voice does sound like an instrument, could be a cello?? Avi doesn't have any bad songs- Every single song he takes you on an emotional journey. Appreciate your continuing with Avi's music. 😀🎶

Fun fact Kevin is playing the Cello on this song for Avi

In order for his cello to match Avi's low voice and timbre, Kevin had to tune the instrument down from normal.

The cello is being played by Kevin Olusola. Beatboxer for Pentatonix. Kevin and Ave became best friends while with PTX> While Kevin was quite capable, Avi actually wrote the score for the cello piece. He heard it all in his head and scored it out and handed it to Kevin. The two strongest, complete musician's PTX has had.

From the fields to the pier and now in the forest (tree-loving Avi lives in a cabin in the forests near Nashville). For more impressively low notes, try listening to “Black is the colour of my true love’s hair” that Avi did with Peter Hollens - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaDGYourpt-sfdUsi=3qUG6wHN1Dv20PiB. Fun fact: Avi’s low notes were used for the soundtrack of “Bladerunner 2049”. I believe that the film’s producer called and asked Avi to record some low notes and send them to him. Avi did so and forgot all about it until the producer called several months later and said that Avi would be all over the film.

This video was shot and edited by FifGen Films, the same video production company that had done several videos for PTX, including "Daft Punk Medley" and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", both of which were Grammy winners. FifGen later did a couple of Avi's own videos, including "Aberdeen", which was shot mostly by drone in the beautiful area at the foot of the White mountains in California. And here are the lyrics to "Fields and Pier", from Avi's YT page (some of it doesn't quite sound right, but it's from his own page, so...) : "Far Take me far away from here From here Start Start walking from the fields To the pier I I will stay up on your mind When i'm gone And fine Fine i will be gone Gone for long Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Time Time is letting for the hills And to be found Watch Watch and listen while you learn Safe ground Feel Feel it popping through my thirst For the tree And please Please let us feel the sun Under the trees Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh" (End)

OK cool here’s a new one. I never heard of that. I’m gonna try out together see how they are. Sounds like a spinoff of Alvin and the chipmunks. I’m here for it let’s go. Sure is a very interesting different sound isn’t it? I’m not sure what his previous name was. I miss that what you were saying in the beginning. he has another band? Definitely a pretty cool unique vibe.

The artist is Avi Kaplan. He was the bass for pentatonix until 2017. He made an EP during the time he was with ptx under the name Avriel and the Sequoias

@@cocohol3513 very interesting thank you for the information. This was a nice track a little bit slow and trippy for me. Would’ve liked to come across it in my psychedelic days. Nowadays, the only mushroom, I will eat is a portobello. I might check out another track of his though that perhaps it’s more upbeat.

@@JoeYo77 As Saeed said in his reaction, Avi has many different styles in his music. Besides this EP, Avi has released 3 EP's and a full length album. All are very different but has Avi's unique style and incredible vocals and songwriting skills
