What a phenomenal interpretation of Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto. There's no doubt that the composer himself has embraced the outstanding pianist, Hannes Minnaar, after having attended the performance from his place in the 'hereafter'. It's a joy to listen to those dialogues between the pianist and the orchestra ! My compliments to the conductor, Otto Tausk 👏👏👏

A truly wonderful interpretation, by everyone! I have to confess that I missed the "incorrect note at 33 seconds" as I was concentrating on the other 256,432 correct, and perfect, notes elsewhere. The "dirty" piano lid, "slow" conductor and animated soloist, noted by expert commentators, didn't seem to affect the audience too much nor the great majority of viewers. It seems that, in their haste to criticise, these commentators miss the fact that there is an "off" button available if they are offended too much. When I was younger the privilege of these KZbin performances was unavailable, recordings were nowhere near as good and, to be able to see all members of the orchestra and the conductor, was not even possible at a live performance. I find something new and wonderful every day, this is a perfect example. Well done to everyone including KZbin, and thanks.

A beutiful, warm-blooded performance of everyone-s favorite. Just a question: Were the strings muted for the Adagio? I think they were, but in any case they come out a bit on the loud side, not really hushed. Maybe in the hall it was ok.

I can certainly hear the influence of his teacherJan Wijn in Mannaar; he'll surely have a long and successful career. I'm not as fond of the orchestra; there are many places that one or another of the winds and/or brass are too loud. To the person who posted and removed the comment: no, he's not showboating. All of the head movements and expressions are those of an artist getting totally involved in the music.

Excellent dramatic soul-evincing artistry but why the heck did the video editor choose to do as the opening shots, a close up of the tympani player and then cut to a very wide shot of the orchestra instead of focusing in on/close up of the opening powerful descending piano flourish!!! That 1st set of descending chords is so impact-full, and sets the stage for the entire piece! And we are directed to a drum and an orchestral wide shot! Helloooooo! What would we rather see, a couple of flailing drumsticks or those marvelous fingers pounding those keys in such precise and harmonic descending cadence? PLEASE RE-EDIT IF YOU HAVE THE ORIGINAL VIDEOS! Don't fret it, Mr. Minnaar - just get the camera video of you alone, and please post it yourself! And send a copy to me please!!!

Why music in Europ has developed relatively later than other fields? Why music in Europe has been under the control of Churches? The level of development in the Music field, ( I think as an Asian) it seems to be quiet late. The revolution of Science already had started in 13th and 14th century. But Music was developing from 17th and 18th Century. So I can say that Music was developing slower than Others.
@Unidentifying9 жыл бұрын
김세호 I dont think its quite true. Churches had the instruments, the money and power. I guess it was easier to proliferate like that. But you are forgetting "pagan" music (celtic / folk) which is still being largely forgotten today.. and Gypsy/East-European music, which both go back thousands of years. PS I listened some early 16th century baroque and its really amazing stuff... safe to say that music was inspired by other very good music in the neighborhood , which might of course have been destroyed or lost or not ever written down.
@김세호-x1o9 жыл бұрын
carelessbear Oh, I really appreciate your comments on mine. Well, then Can I say that [PAGAN MUSIC] such as "CELTIC WOMEN"(?) is a minor part of Western music? And Why these kinds of music were becoming not popular or not maintained as time went by? In Korea where I am living or in China and in Japan, let's say FAR EAST OLD MUSIC, they are well-maintained all. Even if that they are not popular in these countries, they are all nationally protected. Artists in Korea are all designated as cultural heritages. Anyway, I am pretty satisfied with your answer.
