Movement Ii “what If” got me. It just got me! The percussion and the brass……..oh man! Then the calm and serene moment, just perfect. I also like how the conductor acknowledges the brothers each time.

This was an exciting young work with lots of little byways explored within its complex and rich texture. The brilliant conductor had her work cut out for her here, but she, the orchestra and the Jussens made it exciting AND ENORMOUS FUN. The mysterious and intriguing second movement was unexpected. Their poor father's demanding drum part in the third movement, his irreverent sons had already announced in another video, but he is a brilliant timpanist for sure and coped more than well with their mischief. A very musical family over all with Mum a flautist as well.. Was she also featured in this concert? I had to listen to it three times before I really comprehended the whole, but I was completely blown away by it by then. Am now Joey's fan!!!
