Thanks, once again! You got me back into an Mk1 MR2 (my 5th) after 30 years. Now, after a failed 4W alignment session this afternoon, you've explained to me how to replace my rear tie rod arms in a simple way. You're the MR2 information gift that just keeps giving. So here's some giving back!! Thanks. Sam

It’s great you can still get quality aftermarket support for a car this old, many 20-30 year old cars unfortunately require you to fab your own pieces.

Awesome Heim joints/spherical ball joints. They have very good free movement of your suspension. Rubber has Stiction but not as bad as poly and Polyurethane is EVEN A WORSE OPTION! 7:14, Spherical bearings will not outlast the vehicle. They should wear out faster than the rubber bushings all around your vehicle because dirt and debris can get into the joints and so forth. Metal on metal contact will cause wear, i hear on forums Spherical bearings should last like 50k miles before replacing. Still great imo, i'm thinking about doing that on a s2000, all spherical bushings and bearings.

If in doubt, coat the vulnerable parts in copper grease and that should keep corrosion at bay.

I've got a full set of T3 suspension components for my AW11. I haven't fitted it yet, but a number of the parts have scratches and dings on them and the anodising colour is not consistent. Sure, these are just cosmetic issues, but when you're paying top dollar for aftermarket components, packaging and appearance are important.

Hey D4A. Love your show! Currently in the process of tearing apart my suspension of my 87AW11 I bought last autumn. I actually sheared one of my front tension control arms in half trying to loosen the 22mm bolt believe it or not, so I know I'll have to eventually replace them both with T3's. Lol. xD I'm sure I'll have to replace the rear toe links as well with the T3's, BUT my question is.... Do the rear toe links take bushings on the one side that connects to the frame?? Big thanks! _o_
@d4a4 жыл бұрын
I believe everything when it comes to suspension rust. You'll need to clarify that question a bit tho.
@kyleoconnor65674 жыл бұрын
@@d4a okay I'll try to explain better. On the old rear toe links there are 2 sides, one side has rubber bushings and a sleeve for what I think is a 22mm bolt that will go through it. The other side is like a ball joint type thing with grease. So I guess I am asking... On the *old* rear toe link, there is one side that has *bushings* and a sleeve for a through bolt.... And now compare above mentioned side to the *new* rear toe links and there is *no bushings* needed to be used there? Hopefully you can answer. Thank you.

T3 offers a 15" and 13" toe links for the AW11. My Aw11 is lowered with coilovers and I plan on fully building out the suspension for track/aggressive street. What size toe link do i need?

I'm working on my suspension atm.. going to put polyurethane bushings this week. Already rebuilt the steering rack,new strut top mounts. New wheels and tires. My 2 tends too follow the grooves on the highway and feels very scary. Any ideas on what it might be?
@d4a5 жыл бұрын
Did you check the rubber in the steering column for wear? I have a video on it "how to fix steering wheel play". That tends to have the effect you described. What are your camber settings?

Hi there d4a, My 4age bigport is drinking way too much fuel, what sensors should I check? BTW my check engine light is busted, there is no light when I put the key to the on position. On top of all those mechanical/electrical idiocacy, an error code scanner is not an option because my obd port was sentenced to death by fire.
@d4a6 жыл бұрын
Sounds way too complex to even attempt to diagnose in the comments section. You should start with the club4ag forums and the factory service manual. I would just buy an entire good used harness with sensors from a junkyard or somewhere as figuring what you have atm sounds like a serious nightmare. Or even better, just convert it to bike carbs and get rid of all that mess.
