Nice little thing to make into a lightweight naval AEW&C platform. Would be quite an addition to the 2 QEII carriers of the RN.

I am glad to see someone else follow America into making tilt rotor aircraft. I was starting to think they were an expensive boondoggle w/ no future. The civilian value of such aircraft might be tremendous.
@Zankaroo4 жыл бұрын
The AW609 is about 50% American, as Bell was one of the two original companies that formed Bell/Agusta Aerospace Company (BAAC). AgustaWestland is owned by Finmeccanica which is now called Leonardo S.p.A. Leonardo did eventually buy out Bell's share in the project though as Bell saw a reduced potential market for tiltrotors, and Bell was also working on the V-280 tiltrotor with Lockheed Martin for the military.

@@jebise1126 I can't agree w/ this, even if tilt rotors might be of limited military value (I only raise that possibility for rhetorical purposes), I think tilt-rotors will have great value commercially. Business men already often use helicopters to reach quicker aircraft at airports. The value of combining a helicopter function w/ that of an airplane is obvious.

Why not use these Tilt-Rotors as "Helicopter Airlines" for short hall intercity travel from Heliports very close to cities with short check-in times than airports!

Im wondering how the plane's flight characteristics might change if people move about inside. it would seem that the smaller the plane the more effect one or more people moving forward or aft might make in balance.

Are any of your aircraft operating in the Philadelphia metropolitan area? I observed a tilt-rotor aircraft yesterday at fairly high altitude, and assumed it to be a V 22, however, the fuselage was too skinny and I got the impression of a swept back T-tail horizontal stabilizer. Very quiet compared to the Osprey.

Hi Leonardo Company... just curious, could it be possible for this AW609 to land on a MegaYacht Helipad safely ? and what is the maximum wind gust it could take for an easy landing ? Also, could the AW609 blades / wing be folded / stow such as the MV-22 Osprey for storage in the megayacht heli garage ? Make a video for it. If it could land on a megayacht, you'll have a big market potential tho. i'd love to see you guys make a video landing on a megayacht. Looking forward.

If an engine fails both props are connected via a shaft. And if it is somehow locked up in forward position itll have to detour to an airport.
@RureLyther5 жыл бұрын
@@pomzilla7256 if its locked in forward it has to crashland on the airport cause the rotors goes lower than the fuselage no?

Modify the Sikorsky Raider by slowing the main rotor by 95% (instead of 15%) when at full speed and use the advancing blades as wings. Even more efficient than this and cheaper to build.

A single engine over the fuselage would lighten the wings and remove so much weight,fuel lines,gears,complicated engines controls routed through the wing. It would look better and fly better.and much less expensive . and most likely more reliable
@3204clivesinclair5 жыл бұрын
rothschild war bank If the engine fails? Those small ‘props’ don’t have the inertia to autorotate - they need power, hence the mechanical link.
@rothschildwarbank49605 жыл бұрын
Use the starting battery for engine out. Add a little gear to the starter. I think the twin version has no civilian market .ugly and wing heavy plane. Or put both engines over the fuselage like helicopters .
@3204clivesinclair5 жыл бұрын
rothschild war bank This is for the cilia market. Clearly you know better than all the manufacturers who have designed developed and produced tilt rotor aircraft ALL with twin engines and ALL with engines on the end of the wing and ALL with a transfer driveshaft.... I expect them to be knocking on your door very soon to help them out.
@rothschildwarbank49605 жыл бұрын
@@3204clivesinclair according to wiki the aw 609 has completed power off autorotation test and passed,, not engine out test but all power off. 79 test and no accidents. I think the starter motor helping would be helpful . if they could reduce the mass of those giant 25 foot rotors and still have adequate autorotation ability ,the thing would look better. A single engine version ,6 seats will look good,,be almost affordable,make less noise.
