This is absolutely true of THE AMERICAN CHURCH. I was at a house church in San Francisco and one of the greatest blessings of being there was how everyone was eager to serve each other! How it matured the faith of every believer and how it is so necessary for today! This is personal and I've never been to Texas, well actually I went to Austin once. It's personal because I have tasted and seen the greatness of service and long for those who I am in the holy family of God with to partake too of this greatness.

On the moments that sicknessleasong to death seems immenemt and may think they won't survive, I pray stronger for God's will no matter what is triumphant and that glory to God will find a way. It's not always clear how that will manifest but a peace that passes understanding comes from believing God will use bad for good (even if you can't spot it) because God is only Good and His ways are above ours (Isaiah 55:8-9) Thank you Lord

This message could not be more timely for me. Less than 48 hours ago, my family got the news that my dad has cancer that has gone undetected and untreated for 4 years. We are reeling from that diagnosis, but this has emboldened me to pray expectantly with humble confidence in God’s goodness and miraculous nature. Okay whoever that inappropriate clapper is, I hope that they address it! That person that keeps trying to start a crap and hopes that everyone will follow. It's distracting and annoying and right at the end or they clapped at the most inappropriate time and were shut down because he kept talking. Because he wasn't even done saying what he was trying to say and it wasn't even the right time to clap. That person needs to knock it off

Garments are symbolic-referring to the comment about Paul’s garment healing people… For example the Armor of God…

I don’t think that is the case. Why? Because they would essentially be saying the same thing twice. Essentially, ‘we believe that through death we will be delivered from you, and even if he doesn’t deliver us from death by you…’. Do you understand why this might make one lean toward the same interpretation as Matt?

Well, all those supernatural events are symbolic… So you don’t have to omit them, but understand what is being taught… Jesus of Nazareth for example means or represents Faith shooting forth from something that looks dead or hopeless. A shoot growing out of a stump. Like a scene when all hope is lost, but suddenly a second wind comes… Something we all have experienced and love to witness. Think of a scene from Rocky. Once it looks like he is about to lose Rocky comes back and takes the victory. The things the best stories are made of.

But don’t you understand that by doing so, you take away the power of Christ? If you remove the supernatural, you remove the resurrection and you remove the supremacy of Christ over Buddha, Mohammad, etc. Only Christ prophesied that He would be crucified, was killed and rose again like He said He would. Otherwise you turn the Bible into a codex of esoteric morals instead of the true story of a God who really came down in the form of a man, served sinners while never sinning, healing the sick and mentally ill, and ultimately rising from the grave. The Gospel is the supernatural becoming natural. I believe in a supernatural God, and I have to, because in those moments where I have no idea what to do or who to turn to, I have a supernatural God, who can both work in ways I cannot think of, and in supernatural ways above all human understanding.

I don’t think Matt is interpreting the Daniel passage properly. Daniel and his friends exhibit a perfectly biblical response here. The words “and he will deliver us out of your hand“ does not mean that they will escape this death. Being delivered out of his hand, might mean that they are brought to heaven through suffering. And it also might mean that they don’t have to suffer and God does a miraculous thing on this side of heaven, keeping them alive. Either way they would be delivered from his hand. From Enduring Word commentary: They did not doubt God’s ability, but neither did they presume to know God’s will. In this they agreed with Job: Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. They recognized that God’s plan might be different than their desires. I have my own desires and dreams and I pray that God fulfills them. But if He doesn’t, I can’t turn my back on Him.

You talk about supernatural healing and miracles and then you say that "medicine" is the miracle??? What a contradiction!...but not surprising coming from a preacher of the American Church.
