I’m so happy for you! I worked neuro trauma in an ICU, and I’ve seen pretty much everything. The people who have the success you have is almost too rare. I lost two dear friends, one a coworker who had a type of cancer that could be treated but usually returned, and hers did; I lost another friend who was young, only twenty four, to an aneurysm. While neither of my two friends, along with countless others with any types of brain injuries could possibly by candidates for something so simple as Ambien, I remember others who might would have been. I’m long retired now so I have no way to know of their follow-up histories, but it makes me wonder, and this makes me hopeful for people. I know what any kind of brain injury is capable of doing, regardless it’s pathology, so people who now can have that hope is absolutely wonderful. I hope that other drugs can be useful in this. We’ll just have to wait and see. And hope. God bless you!

This whole concept bothers me more than I can say. Why in the world would you want to wake them up? To torture them and make them aware of what they have missed? The person you knew is gone. After seeing this, I told my family if it happens to me, to take away the feeding tube and just let me go.

@@abbyjacobs8018 A lot can depend on age, among other circumstances. But at my age, should something happen to me I do not want to be tube fed or have any other life sustaining measures performed. I am a no code, a DNR. Give me enough morphine for comfort and that little ‘push’ on over.

I've heard stories of people who got anesthesia just to wake up during surgery and could feel everything happening, but couldn't do anything about it. That is terrifying.

The education of doctors needs to be inceased. Too many mis-diagnosis, or faint experience as doctors. That's my personal experience. Drugs are not always the answer.
