When it comes top approaching awakening, we have a tendency to make things unnecessarily complicated. We discuss three areas where this occurs. Then there is a direct pointing to the pure sense of Being/ I Am that is the simple and always available entry point for that first transformation.

It really depends on you. It's pretty uncommon for someone with no history of practice in this way to truly just stop thinking by choice and remain in unbound consciousness... but it's totally possible! If you find yourself day dreamy, lost in thoughts, thinking about not thinking et, then yes returning to self inquiry is best. Once you lead yourself into a content less space and you are awake then just stay there. It's a subtle distinction, but it can be done for sure :)

And that gratitude just keeps taking me deeper. 🙏🦋💎 Oh, and yes, I find the pointing to the I AM sense both clear and helpful. In fact, in general, I find your teaching to be so clear that if I come across something that doesn’t resonate with me, I mostly just figure it’s not something I’m ready to hear yet. I admire immensely your talent of always bringing the listener/readers attention back to inquiry. It has been helping me all the time with dissociation from thoughts while at the same time leaning towards them. I'm currently in the thirteenth chapter of your book, and it might be thanks to my background in NLP/hypnosis, but the solidity of beliefs has been dismantled from me even before first awakening; nevertheless I'm still compelled to read only a few pages per day, which is still uncommon for me. I have a question regarding something that happens to me when I focus on watching thoughts: I seem to get stuck in a loop/fractal of thoughts; "thinking about the fact that I'm looking for thinking, and being aware of the fact that I'm aware that I'm thinking about thinking", and it kind of just goes. Eventually I end up noticing that I'm resisting the fact I feel stuck in a loop, and that becomes the thought, but right after I acknowledge it, it seems to go right back to the fractal-like feeling of being stuck in a thought. As always, thanks for the help and amazing hints! You are a personal hero of mine; and I feel really honored by the attention and care you give to me and seemingly every single person who comments in your videos.
@SimplyAlwaysAwake
@SimplyAlwaysAwake 3 жыл бұрын
Always feel into the closest thought perception and rest there. Ok this case it’s “I always get stuck in this loop.” So notice that’s one thought then rest back into the SENSE of the one that seeks to be about :). Then watch for the next thought “that didn’t work..” etc . The self talk sneaks in, but it’s still just a thought. At some point you back into a place where you never left and trip over yourself. When you stand back up, there is only the Self. So just watch fir the subtle thoughts, self talk and recognize there is something there aware of even that thought 💭
@flutiyama
@flutiyama 3 жыл бұрын
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake Okay, so even when the loop is "being aware that I'm waiting for a thought" the idea should be to not identify with the loop itself, but instead to tune in to the fact there's always someone/something that is aware of the loop itself, which even though it feels like an endless loop, turns out to be just another, "bigger" thought. Am I in the right track?
@flutiyama
@flutiyama 3 жыл бұрын
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake another way of trying to understand this here: is it about NOTICING the thought but focusing the "identification" not into the thought, but instead into the FEELING of "there is seeking happening here"???
@SimplyAlwaysAwake
@SimplyAlwaysAwake 3 жыл бұрын
@@flutiyama yes, suddenly it just dawns that we can be thought free without requiring confirmatory thoughts. The key is orienting TOWARD thoughts and thus collapsing the distance between the thinker and the thought (once we’ve become good at recognizing and de-identifying from thoughts). You have to feel into when that transition feels natural.
@flutiyama
@flutiyama 3 жыл бұрын
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake I might REALLY be talking out of my ass here, but the moment I tested this I've got the feeling that we are literally "free from thoughts" ALL OF THE TIME, and are simply unable to notice it; so basically I'm free from thoughts up until the moment I "search for a thought to space myself (apply duality upon the non-dual) within"?

I like that it always goes back to inquiry. That was one of the last chapters in your book, so it took a while to get there. If your videos on zdoggmd lit the fuse, then doing inquiry the way you described in the book and on one of your videos doused that fuse in lighter fluid. Anyway, was definitely guilty of intellectualizing, and immersing myself in media. It took that burning desire and non stop inquiry.

😂😂 can’t remember what I said in this video specifically, but my point was probably along the lines of everything you need you already here and 95% of this process is about surrendering to what is already in your experience rather than gathering more information. Once that clicks then one really doesn’t need outside sources, however you might occasionally read or watch something about realization.

@0:20 But who is getting in the way and who is complicating things? It seems the "me" has no agency but yet when people speak, they attribute so much agency to it. I understand that it's all reality but it conveniently seems that all the good stuff is due to reality/awareness and all the stuff that gets in the way is due to the separate self. How can this if the separate self/thoughts is also reality, and the former is said to have no agency? Having said all that, shift happened 15 years ago and mind didn't recognise it or it took a lot time to integrate it, etc. Either way I am drawn to this knowledge for reasons I can't explain. I am not trying to awaken and like you don't believe it is possible personally. My career/life/passion is understanding life and reality (and consciousness, though in the sense we think about it, we're just talking about simple awareness, not awareness of awareness, which we see as an emergent phenomenon). Resting in awareness of awareness is easily possible. This is still "awareness of", no? Since a couple of weeks head/neck starts to convulse when there is an attempt to collapse that distance (between "awareness of" and "awareness"). Flow states seem to be a natural way this occurs. Pure awareness without thought/overthinking and a sense of "I am doing it" but things are happening, even happening in a frictionless manner. But this doesn't occur all the time (24/7). Doesn't occur when master-ship is handed over to mind and there is overcomplication and thoughts racing and second guessing and such. Furthermore, all this "simple" doesn't match what happened 15 years ago. Those were extremely profound, very literal "experience" of Oneness - there is only quantum soup.

Thanks for making these. Your book was revolutionary. I wouldn't think that's it's possible to wake up in this life time unless you meditate like Buddha or have a miraculous spontaneous waking like Eckhart Tolle. I've been to the vipassana meditation courses twice. So two 10 day silent meditations with N. S. Goenka. I had some weird stuff happen there and your book helped me understand what was happening. The dying of the ego clinging to life perhaps... also at one point all thinking also stopped for me and the world became more vivid. I realized that meditating no longer required any effort, because I was already meditating. I felt like I was an acid, it's really the only way I can explain it. And that's as far as I got. I didn't think there was anymore to it. I meditate often (with natural meditation or anapana - breath meditation) and I'm often quite aware of my thoughts and I don't identify with them. But I have a heard time answering these inquisitive questions. The who am I. I feel like there's something I don't get there. I can rest in my body without thinking, just sensing but that's when I hit a wall. Do you just rest in body in the present? I'm suspecting that the answer is yes.
@SimplyAlwaysAwake
@SimplyAlwaysAwake 3 жыл бұрын
The sense of the body will be clearly seen to be nothing but a thought at sone point. But that comes in a refinement beyond awakening. For you that first shift is key. You’ve clearly had tastes. The approaching awakening playlist and my second to last chapter address it directly. The chapter especially so.

I agree overcomplications are manifold. But it seemed upon initial awakening, there was an inner knowing of the way things were unfolding. It was only after that honeymoon period ended or wore off that seeking began. Until then, there seemed like a program was being executed which I had no knowledge of but which was very deliberate. Is the seeking a necessary phase or simply a byproduct of the sense of loss?
@SimplyAlwaysAwake
@SimplyAlwaysAwake 3 жыл бұрын
It's interesting, this plays out so differently for everyone. I might say it this way, before awakening we are often so identified with thoughts that we don't realize we are made out of seeking. Endless dissatisfaction BUT that is often covered up with a layer of inauthenticity so we don't recognize the degree to which this happens. Once the ego structure gets disrupted for the first time the seeking mechanism is uncovered and becomes quite obvious, and "extra." So its a quantum leap in clear seeking, the curtain has been pulled back and the wizard is revealed. Further refinements are about deconstructing the wizard, because the wizard is also a curtain that can be pulled back. What is seeking? What is it made out of? Where do you find it? What do you reference to know seeking is going on? Also is there seeking because there is a sense of self or is there a sense of self because there is seeking? Where to look to find this answer?
