Angelo, what are you doing here, this free and non-stop "teaching", this way of explaining that manages to make even an ignorant person like me understand in a few minutes what few centuries (years?) ago required moving to the other side of the world and studying ancient texts for years, all this.. is truly priceless. My awakening came in 2017 after a devastating marriage ending. I was in a very low place in life. I entered a period of self isolation in a very quiet place. One morning I woke up one morning and I felt at peace with myself. This process took months for me. At the time I didn’t know what it was. I thought I was going crazy 🤪. It’s hard to put into words what I did. I told myself there was nothing wrong with me and stopped telling myself I wasn’t good enough. I stopped looking at the world with judgment and just looked at it with discernment. Anyway I could go on all day. Good look y’all in your journey❤

What's occured to me recently is that a lot of these spritual teachings reinforce duality - eg a practice where you are supposed to 'focus your attention on something'. This in itself suggests there is a person who needs to focus on a separate object. Same with meditation, most instructions imply that if you do it long enough 'X will happen in the future', this creates an imaginary concept of something hapening in future, which is impossuble. I wish I hadn't learned most of these spiritual teachings, they sent me down so many dead ends and I suspect they're taught by people who aren't fully sincere.
@SimplyAlwaysAwake5 ай бұрын
The seeking is a side effect not a result of practice. It’s good to be an aware of but doesn’t prevent awakening bc you are waking up to what is always already the case. No amount of seeking could make that untrue. Also seeking didn’t begin because you learned spiritual concepts and practices, it was already there and deeply woven into what you take yourself to be. It is just becoming revealed as your insight deepens. Lastly, these practices clearly work bc there are many deeply realized people who have utilized these various paths. I’ll quote Dogen here: The way is basically perfect and all-pervading. How could it be contingent upon practice and realization? The dharma-vehicle is free and untrammeled. What need is there for concentrated effort? Indeed, the whole body is far beyond the world's dust. Who could believe in a means to brush it clean? It is never apart from one, right where one is. What is the use of going off here and there to practice? And yet, if there is the slightest discrepancy, the way is as distant as heaven from earth. If the least like or dislike arises, the mind is lost in confusion. Suppose one gains pride of understanding and inflates one's own enlightenment, glimpsing the wisdom that runs through all things, attaining the way and clarifying the mind, raising an aspiration to escalade the very sky. One is making the initial, partial excursions about the frontiers but is still somewhat deficient in the vital way of total emancipation. Need I mention the Buddha, who was possessed of inborn knowledge? The influence of his six years of upright sitting is noticeable still. Or Bodhidharma's transmission of the mind-seal? The fame of his nine years of wall-sitting is celebrated to this day. Since this was the case with the saints of old, how can we today dispense with negotiation of the way?
@SimplyAlwaysAwake5 ай бұрын

@@SimplyAlwaysAwake Thanks for the detailed response. @SimplyAlwaysAwake5 ай бұрын
@@billypilgrim8903yes exactly. Becoming clear on the mechanism of seeking itself is critical bc it is simply a distracting pulling attention into the mind. If one is identified with time, outcomes, benefits, cause and effect from the standpoint of personal will, then there is delusion operating in that moment. And that can and will be released more and more (less through intention , more through seeing the futility and dualistic nature of it). As True Nature shines forth clearly as “Just this.”

Angelo, my mind always brings up doubts, the hardest one that all of this awakening experience is just made by chemicals in the brain similiar like when taking psychedelics, e.g. all is matter and there is nothing like consciousness behind. How to deal with this and what is your view?
@SimplyAlwaysAwake5 ай бұрын
What is revealed with awakening and ultimately liberation is the natural state free of distortion by thought. The brain chemicals are creating the distorting effect of consciousness. Psychedelics alter the chemistry and thus you notice altered states of consciousness . These can be and often are mistaken for realization. However the alteration breaks the stability of the illusory world created by consciousness and along with the side effects (altered states), this allows some direct access to the natural (unconditioned) reality. So there is some potential benefits to psychedelics but they can also become a trap.
