Great interview with clear understanding. J.Krishnamurti talked about these things way before I’ve heard of Rupert Spira. Rupert’s teaching feels like an extension of what Krishnamurti taught. When he talks about letting go of everything such as thoughts, feelings, daily problems etc. to me it means don’t get attached to anything including the person speaking. Don’t even get attached to the teaching just let the teaching live on and bring it out into the world. As the man said when you take those steps back and pause to see then the awareness is there. And that awareness is Enlightenment. Have a blessed day everyone!

Rupert is changing my whole vision of the world. It was already there, in me, it just needed to be reformulated in appropriate terms. From my childhood and memories at the age of 12: I told my mother I was feeling good and I was somehow immortal because if someone was feeling the same as me in the future or the past….I was somehow this person as well. It makes me think somehow to this memories. Thank you and much love.

Thank-you so much for this wonderful conversation. I got so much out of this and learned a lot. If I might add re: Kimberley's good question about being able to experience big feelings such as may be triggered from childhood (27min.) -- Our capacity for this is 'grown' through being held, mirrored, witnessed by others (interpersonal neurobiology). Even the capacity for self-soothing or self-regulation is really internalized from our experiences in relationship. That's how this capacity is grown in us and if we weren't fortunate enough to have this in our early development or later with caring people, it will be hard to practice or try to develop this capacity alone. It's just not how this ability is grown or developed. If anyone is listening and feels overwhelmed or like they are failing in this, don't despair. Keep trying to find someone who can help with his directly and personally. Our brain can't create this capacity alone.

Lisa, I want to help you, although my reaction may shock you. Have you ever considered the possibility that life is but a dream? Rupert Spira is continuously pointing at that with the methaphore of John Smith playing King Lear. The very moment you realize that life is but a dream ALL your problems/frustrations/agonies are seen through. How long did any nightmare bother you after awakening? Was it days, hours or just seconds?

Don't meditate with your eyes closed. Why divide yourself from the world? Why slice yourself (Reality) in half? You and the world are not two. Don't try to be "good" and don't try to be "peaceful". The "you" that tries is merely a phantom. Don't "meditate" and don't "not meditate". Does the fish need to take a bath?Always attend to the Awarer. Let this be your meditation. You are not the person. You are the pure witness. Relieve yourself of the frustration and the burden of trying to be "spiritual". Just patiently attend to the flame at the root of all experience. That's all you need to do. In other words, get over yourself and revel in the wonder of this constant , seamless abidance. Allow EVERYTHING and know that even the so-called "bad" experiences are symptoms of the miraculous fact of our living Awareness.

@@rabidL3M0NS Exactly. This is how the eyes look when gazing at the tip of the nose, a yogic technique.It also helps the energy move through the ajna chakra. Depression has been a life-long companion for me. This idea of accepting it, turning towards it, allowing the depression sounds reasonable. But when I try it, practically speaking, i become overwhelmed by the feelings of depression and become immobilized, paralyzed. I understand that before welcoming these emotions, we need to stand as the "presence of awareness" and I think that is the part I am not fully solid on--I welcome the feeling before having stabilized myself, centered myself, as the presence of awareness, and then the feelings overwhelm me indeed. I haven't placed enough "distance" (wrong word but hopefully conveys my intent) between myself as Awareness and the emotions which pass through.
@emendatus12 жыл бұрын
You just watch it. Like a movie. Notice 2 processes. I am suffering and I dont want to suffer. Just watch them until they stop. If feelings are moderatly strong I need 5 minutes. If strong maybe more. Continue until it stops. It has to stop because when you watch you cease identification. But it will try its best to maintain identification. So you must have power. That's why yogis have been doing brahmacharya and other things to increase their power. But once you recognized yourSelf, you dont need power. It becomes the matter of switching the attention. Like turning on, off appliences.

I wake up with a heaviness in my chest that aches. I embrace it with love and compassion. I know it is not me. Try just being with your depression every day with all the love you have. Know that it is not you but an emotional companion who just needs to be invited along for the journey and experience your love.
@GeertMeertens Жыл бұрын
You as awareness are rock solid. Don't keep telling yourself there's something wrong with you. You are the blue sky. In the sky clouds pass. You are not those clouds, do not identify with any of the clouds, just watch them pass. Consciousness is what you are. Don't take my word for it, look back on any dream you ever had. All suffering in your dreams required identifying with a self. The moment you relinguished the identification with the person any nightmare became a good laugh. What if life is but a dream?

I am establishing in my being more and more but my biggest obstacle is that I feel constantly tired. And it's nothing new. I kind of always felt tired since my youth. I can deal with emotions, even with anger (that was the most difficult emotion for me to deal with) but it's really hard to deal with this tiredness, and heavyness. I think it maby has to do with bad sleep since I overthink a lot and when I am half asleep I cannot really deal with it. Does anyone have similar experience and / or has anyone an idea how to deal with this?

Whilst these teachings are helpful initially, always be mindful that they more often than not simply reinforce the sense of a ‘me’. Eventually you may resonate with uncompromising non-duality from the likes of Tony Parsons, Jim Newman, Kenneth Madden, Frank Mccaughey etc when you come to see that any form of a teaching is utterly futile, the search for anything is completely hopeless. You’re already home, there’s nothing to seek because there’s nobody there
@brianlittrell7972 жыл бұрын
I don't see how Rupert Spira falls into the category of "uncompromising duality". Whatever that means. Your comment comes from the consciousness of superiority and separation. It both lacks logic and feels intuitively untrue. The only true part of your comment is "You're already home".

Why does god fall asleep in the first place ? Is he just tired ? Or does god want to manifest a gigantic dream world just to wake up from it ? I think it's because suffering is an integral part of life. Life is synonymous with suffering. Without suffering there could be no life. Yes, god has problems but they are 'only' dream problems.
@emendatus12 жыл бұрын
There is no answer to this question. Only people who awakened know the answer but they dont give answer because it cannot be understood.

Vedic scriptures says that this world is dream of Maha-Vishnu. And He expands out of joy to many, impregnating that dream. But at same time there is no present or past. So He is never actually expandad at some point. We are all eternal being and so is He. So we are not formless but we have form similiar to His. That is our true position, but we forget it and so we take body according to various desires in different spieces of life.
@tuficek2 жыл бұрын
No no, you are not awareness, that belong to the body this is organ which appears and dissapears, you are the life which moves by your hands. Just this, never can be grasped and understand.
