The absolute BEST chili EVER! I am not a big chili fan much less sausage fan...This was delicious! In fact I had 1lb of ground Italian sausage and only a 1lb of hamburger meat and it was perfect! I didn’t have all the ingredients for the chili and it was still delicious! I did have all the seasonings and I think that’s the key to the flavor. I tried the breadsticks too, and we all really liked them BUT you must put parchment paper or a silpat (silicone liner) on the pan before the breadsticks. They stuck like crazy and the pans were a pain to get clean. Just FYI.

How do you thicken chili like this or any other meat sauce or anything similar? Anytime I try to make anything like it that's supposed to be thicker, it turns out watery in the instant pot. Any tips?
@SixSistersStuff4 жыл бұрын
Don’t add any ingredients for thickening the soup until the pressure cooking process has been completed. You can make a slurry by whisking 3 tablespoons of cool water with 2 tablespoons cornstarch or flour (all purpose, gluten free or arrowroot powder). Whisk into the soup/chili and set the Instant Pot to SAUTE and allow the stew to come to a boil and thicken up.

Do you add the melted butter to the Instant Pot during the sauté stage? Also could you cook the ground beef and sausage in the Instant Pot and add the veggies near the end of cooking on sauté mode?

It will be much easier to just brown your meat on the stove top. You could do it in the Instant Pot, but you would need to do each one in shifts because of the amount of meat.

QUESTION: My Instant Pot won't stay on sauté. It kicks off around 5 minutes. What am I doing wrong?
@janettmead20554 жыл бұрын
Mine does the same, but usually after 10 or 15 minutes. I never really timed it. I believe it's made to do that. To shut off after so many minutes. Maybe a built in precaution for the Instant Pots. I never read the instructions and not sure where they are...lol

Excellent … Spousette says it’s the best I’ve made. It’s was too spicy for her so added another can of pintos and used a small can of mild chilies vs the hot one. Served her w a slotted ladle to avoid the spicier juice. Since it was more soupy than she likes added chopped chicken breast and chopped potato to the left overs. Best.
