Thank you so much! I'm 73 and have been cooking for 63 yrs. and my son introduced me to Instant Pot a few months ago and I love it! At 5'5" I weighed 181 lbs. last year. Today I weigh 160!!!! NO more frying. I also have an air fryer that my husband bought for me. Wish I had both 30 years ago! lol You are a very good teacher. Thanks again!

I'm a bit older than you. My mother had one of these in the 1940's. It was called a pressure cooker. It wasn't electric though. You used it on the stove. She canned all kinds of things back then because of the food shortages during WW2.

Kristin, you taught me how to use my Instant Pot when I first got it. As a 78 year old invalid, it has changed my life. I was buying most food cooked (a lot of fast food). Since I got the IP almost 2 years ago, I rarely EVER buy cooked food. Your videos are wonderful. I have one suggestion about cooking pasta in an Instant Pot. A different KZbin told me that you do not keep to cover pasta with water in an Instant Pot. Just make sure each piece of pasta is wet, and it will steam and cook perfectly. It comes out perfectly. Try it some time. It saves having too much liquid.

works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside kzbin.infoUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

Frozen? You’d have to wait for it to thaw which takes way longer. Or microwave it which makes it chewy. Sometimes it’s not about how long but how much better it tastes. Plus with the instant pot you can walk away while it’s cooking instead of standing there watching it. Less cleanup too.

Cornstarch or cellulose, the stuff they use to keep shredded cheese isn't really a health issue, though at times it can be a performance one. And block cheese is nice, but requires extra prep/processing. I use both, but most often the convenience far outweighs the quality difference

You can use frozen chuck roast. I run it under Coldwater so it's thawed little bit on both sides( seasoning will stick that way). I put oil in the bottom of the pan and sautee it. I use water and wine. You can also use beef broth. For the carrots and potatoes I cut them up in big pieces I use baby carrots. I put them in tin foil and Put them on top of the meat, and let it cook for about an hour and 15 minutes or 20. Let it slow release for 10 t0 15 minutes. The potatoes and carrots won't be mushy. The carrots are still firmish. Thanks to KZbin I have learned some tricks along the way! I am so looking forward to making you delicious recipes! P.s. Don't forget to deglaze the pot.

This may be anathema to many but I cook 3 cups rice to 4.5 cups water and after 17 mins it’s perfect. I cool it quickly and it’s easy peasy to use with chilli or Thai red chicken. I just got my Insta pot 2 days ago & I can’t wait to use it. I had a different brand Pressure cooker from an Infomercial on tv. It has been a pain trying to figure out how to do what I wanted. Now the sealing plastic gasket prevents it from sealing. I did use it to cook on slow cook, but I know I will use this much more. I love all the settings & it’s easy to use. I also love the Saute Button so I can brown a roast or other type of meat and don’t have to have an assortment of pan making more of a bigness. I like making Split Pea soup or a great pan of beans. Thank you so much for all your recipes. Even tho it’s going to be me at home alone, I still decided to buy the Duo pot because I can make large soups and roasts and divide the leftovers in Vacuum bags and freeze them in meal sized containers. If I have company coming over, I know I can put the meat or whatever I want to make. Thanks again for all your help! I look forward to seeing more from you. Cheers, Jillibean

I’ve been using electric pressure cookers for years. I was on my 3rd on when the Instant Pot came out, and I consider myself a Rice expert in this area..lol But seriously, I do NOT like sticky white rice. 🍚 There’s no way that I’m serving it sticky. I use Basmati Rice, and I don’t use anything but rice and water. 1 1/2 cups water for every 1 cup of rice. Cook on Manual for 4 minutes! Doesn’t matter if you release the pressure or not, it comes out flaky and perfectly cooked every time. It’s very soft and tender, yet not at all sticky. I never use the rice button for that reason, that’s cooking it WAY too long. I also rinse my rice, I forgot to add. But if you want perfectly non sticky rice, try this.:))

@@friendlymomma That’s really odd. I definitely don’t cook giant batches, but this is the absolute only way that I ever cook rice, and I like my rice soft and done. It’s perfect every single time for me, I promise you. I use basmati rice, and it comes out great and never sticky at only 4 minutes. I use 1 1/2 cups water to 1 cup of rice. Maybe that’s the difference, idk, but I know for sure it works wonderfully for me. :))

A helpful hint someone gave me. When you are mixing things in the instant pot, and it keeps turning, clamp it with a big binder clip and it doesn't move around. Great hint. And you don't have the hot rim to hold! Pass it on!

I am Cuban & my family loves eating Picadillo. Ground beef & onions& green pepper & lots of garlic& tomato sauce & worcestershire & s little wine & Goya spices that come in a very small box & inside it has the little envelopes & lots of olives stuffed with pimentoes & raisins. You eat this on top of white rice. Has the consistency of Spaghetti sauce. Some times I eat it with boiled spaghetty or angel hair, just a little different . I like my Picadillo soupy some people like it dryer. You can stuff round disks of dough to make empanadas. Those come frozen. For the recipe look up Cuban Picadillo. Enjoy.
