I met Dokken at a cd store in New Jersey in 1997 and Don was really sweet and flirty to me but George wasn't too friendly, they definately hated each other because Don was sitting at one the end of the table while George was sitting at the other end of the table. Don isn't egotistical at all, not while I was talking to him anyway. I remember when I was waiting in line to meet Dokken, Don gave me a really big smile, I was blushing so much at that moment. :D He is a sweet man, i don't care what the haters say about him.

I met Dokken at Minneapolis Int’l. Gracious men! Photos and shaking hands, they gave me time... then I said, “Remenber, Don, before Def Leppard there was you!” Seriously, meant for it to be a major compliment. Don asked his guitarist “what?”, his guitarist repeated what it was that I said. Don nodded his head fast looking out in the distance and stepped into his cab. I’ve been going through that statement over and over.... did I compliment him? Your thoughts.

Don's song writing with George's guitar was a killer combo when they were keeping it balanced. When the latter 80's had over milked the guitar hero thing, it had an unfortunate effect on the band and a lot of bands of the era. The following albums got away from the songs and got more guitar orientated than about the songs, imo. I was a huge Dokken fan from the early 80's and the "Under Lock & Key" album was really some of their best work or my favorite album. I had them all. Everything was just right on it. They did good!
@callielucas1197 Жыл бұрын
When Don said they couldn't afford a 32 Track studio yet, he wasn't kidding. In 1985, I was in line to get in at The Troubadour, and Don comes walking up, alone, wearing that fringed sleeved long leather jacket he wore often and in one of the videos. I wasn't exactly new to seeing "celebrities", but I was definitely a Dokken fan. Anyway, he went back and forth along the line a couple times. Then right before my friend and I were at the pay window inside the front entrance, he walks in again and asked if he could get in. They said he wasn't on the list. Dokken was well known enough that someone working the Troubadour would know who he was, but either way, they weren't letting him in. He didn't push or anything. Instead he turns around and asks if we had $5. Yes, he literally didn't have the money to pay to get in. I gave him the $5. He went in. He still owes me $5. 😄😄😄
