I was born in 83. Missed out on seeing all the 80s bands because I was a baby/toddler when all the best bands and albums were coming out & I'm from California where most of those bands came from. By the time I started getting into metal, it was the mid-late 90s when I was a teenager. Unfortunately, by that time all the popular "metal" was untalented numetal garbage which I hated, but I was listening to early Metallica, Ozzy, Dio, Megadeth, Slayer, but I loved 80's Dokken too, and RATT. I was an 80s metal fan in the late 90s when real metal was unfortunately dead for the most part.

@@MoveitorLoseit2 I thought 80s metal and hair metal had something of a renaissance in the late 90s. Also, don't complain. There's some good shit in the 90s numetal scene, and you were at least around for that, and for grunge. Metallica and Megadeth were bigger than ever in the 90s and released some of their most original and artistically out there stuff in those periods. Pantera, Alice in Chains (Dimebag and Stalely were still alive). I was born in '99 so by the time I was old enough in 2010s everything on the radio sucked. My entry into rock 'n' roll was Europe (of Final Countdown fame) and Iron Butterfly (of In a Gadda Da Vida fame)

@@UnchainedEruption the first concert I was taken to I was still in high school it was Anthrax, Megadeth and Motley Crue in 2000. Then in 2001 I got to see Slayer & Pantera in the extreme steel tour, that turned out to be the last Pantera tour with Vinnie and Dime, so I was lucky there. Over the last decade I have been seeing every band I grew up with as much as I could. Like a bucket list, checking off all the bands I needed to see. They are all old and past their prime though. I have seen so many bands and even met some of them. I still have not seen Dokken just because unfortunately it makes me sad how Don sounds now.

I remember watching this when it first aired on MTV. My mother hated that I had a poster of Dokken in my bedroom because she said that they " looked like weirdos" however, 1 year after she passed away, I had an encounter with the band members and they were very nice, encouraging and very humble. They loved their fans and weren't arrogant at all. A lot of celebrities could learn lessons from people like this.

the radio stations killed Heavy Metal/Hard Rock, most sold out to Alternative and College Rock. although a few stayed true, and still do. i miss the days of Q102 and The Zoo here Dallas, TX.. and of course OKC had THE KATT and East TX had 96X. the ZROCK folks had a good thing going too. i remember while vacationing in Honolulu in 92, they had a ZRock station =)

When it comes to personal space everyone has their own comfort level. Dee is one of those people who doesn't have an issue with this and very comfortable being in close proximity to people. Don isn't like this you can see it in his body language. He tolerates it and seems to get more comfortable as the interview goes on. Also a good opportunity to promote your album and new music.

Wait, what? From 1:26, Don said “ ppl say rock is dead, metal is dead” Well, plz somebody tells me, is that real what they said back then? I mean that was 1985, c’mon, those bands could get platinum records back then
@MetalMaster101
@MetalMaster101 3 жыл бұрын
In the early 80s they said rock was dead. That's when new wave and pop was getting popular. Sure some rock bands were platinum sellers, but in general rock wasn't the mainstream music and wasn't respected.

@@MetalMaster101 thx for replying, I’m not a 80s kid, so sometimes I have no idea what was really happening back then. It just seems to me, after Van Halen’s 1st record, everybody wanted to go to LA, and became a rock star. Then, Quiet Riot, Ratt and Motley Crue hit the Billboard chart, 82 US festival got 400 thousands attendances, it feels like early 80s was not that bad for rock bands.
@MetalMaster101
@MetalMaster101 3 жыл бұрын
@@ruiplas Yeah, rock and metal was definitely popular at the time. 80's was the peak for rock and metal. But it took bands like the ones you mentioned to kickstart the popularity and gain attention. Still though, as famous as they are, and as big as Rock was in the 80s. All the rock bands had to kick and scrape for everything they got. Some hit it big, but a lot didn't and went unnoticed and unsigned.

Don was being sarcastic. Their feud was epic and it devastated me when the band broke up. Jeff Pilson said in an interview, that their egos got in the way and if they had kept them in check, their popularity would have taken them even higher. Big egos will always cause someone to crash and burn. Lesson to be learned, is that you didn't get to the top alone, it was a team effort. Remember the saying; " United we stand, divided we fall".
