THIS has helped Me lose 7 pounds already guys! ( mostly water at first, BUT , on My way) I want to Thank You🤗😍 I've observed My eating habits differently since this talk. SO, I've began to be so aware NOW, I can actually STOP Myself BEfore eating that piece of ...something that I maybe shouldn't. There by losing this extra wieght!!! I mean, I actually thought, before, I can eat anything I want and not gain wieght not realizing or knowing that as we age we must adjust our eating habits accordingly! AND this thought came to Me to use in temptations: " You've tasted this before, You know the taste already, and it will always be there IF You want to taste it again SO, You can pass it by this time." And I use That alot and it helps Me pass the temptation. I slowed down My smoking using this same idea. Down to half a pack of cigarettes now from 2 packs a day. On My way to quitting. 🤗🥰

Aaron you will appreciate this. As a former Personal Trainer I realized that self control is an exercise within it's self. Physically you will be weak when you start to exercise but the more you exercise the stronger you become. The same is true of self control. You will slip up but you have to keep trying. As you try more and more bad habits fall away. What replaces them is awareness that pleasure is not dependent upon anything else. Pleasure is a state of mind. If you do the mental math this goes hand in glove to what you are saying here only in a slightly different form.

Thanks for the vid! So why did Nisargadatta smoke then? He was a realized being, surely ... he used to say something like 'it`s not me smoking' 😄 I agree with those therapists who say that strong addictions become tightly intertwined with basic survival mechanisms of the body as a result of trauma and therefore trauma-therapy and emotion repression work may be at hand even after non-dual realization. Alan Watts also had an addiction to cigarettes...😀who knows how many of them.

There is no Truth within an illusion or dream where the ego has its home. Within an illusion the only way to truth is through wisdom, which only points to the Truth of our Reality and is transforming as we become more open to new perspectives. and new ideas about ourselves. Maybe I am reading your answer wrong but it sounds like your saying to forget about the above statement. That is 'confusing' when this is very much what you also teach... instead - discover the one who is confused, because that one is what needs to be Truly judged, or looked at. 12step programs do help. An addict in the throws of craving and addiction does not have the clarity you speak of.
