Great video. I really learned alot about the reaction process. I'm VERY self-aware, so my brain misses NOTHING. Developing the skillset around the reaction to a twinge or sensation is helping me so much. Thank you!

I love asking the question - What is my brain perceiving as dangerous? I can see to answer this very quickly so the brain obviously knows what it is.

Thank you, Dan, for this video. If you can, please make a video addressing the difference between "soothing ourselves by calmly reassuring to teach the brain we are not in danger" v.s. "trying to calm ourselves, hoping to get rid of the symptoms." I understand that wanting to "get rid of" the symptoms teaches the brain that we are in danger. When I soothe myself, I notice myself "hoping" to "get rid of " my symptoms (ulterior motive behind my action). How can we soothe ourselves without wishing our symptoms to go away? Even while I say to myself, "Hey, brain, this is not dangerous. We are okay," I notice another part of me is saying "If I soothe myself, this uncomfortable symptom might go away! I hope it does, because I don't like it and I'm scared of it!"

Try not to over-think it and decide you are doing something wrong. Calm reassurance is better than freaking out. Indifference is better than calm reassurance. All three are ways we can respond to the pain.

You just described how a full blown panic attack occurs. Absolutely a TMS equivalent. Dr Sarno was brilliant.

I've been enjoying your videos, Dan. Thank you for your practical approach. I wanted ask you, how do you deal with the emotions (like overwhelm, upset, anxiety) that proceeds tension and pain? I'm doing better when I feel pain first. But, I'm struggling with overwhelm and anxiety that causes dizziness and nausea before the shoulder/neck tension and pain. Thanks!

The overall approach is to not take our own thinking seriously and not to give too much fear or attention to symptoms. More options for recovery are here: www.PainFreeYou.com/start

You get to some nice places, thanks for sharing, maybe it's like here you need to have a pickup or 4x4 in that area, being aware of how PDP works is half the battle, now I'm aware of what causes symptoms to increase when I'm doing something for pleasure, instead of thinking why does it have to happen every time I can do something, I can start to retrain my brain, and calm things down, it isn't a frustrating mystery anymore, it takes away the permanent trying to find out what's wrong, or find a cure, thanks to your vidios, and daily support, 🎉

Any idea why symptoms randomly pop up one day and vary in intensity, even though I dont feel scared/stressed? :/

Might be that your subconcious still senses danger. I have the same but when i really look inside and see whats happening/mindfullness meditating on it the symptons decrease

The concept of perceived danger causing symptoms is key. But Not all perceived dangers are conscious. Teaching the brain you are safe emotionally, physically and mentally is how we get well. Learn more at: www.PainFreeYou.com/start

I might be a little stuck with this. Migraines wake me every morning. When the pain is bad enough to wake me. So the twinge doesn’t happen like that. I’m asleep. I can be pretty non reactive as Dan says to say gut noises. But I wake with 10/10 pain in my head. The reaction was probably whilst I was still sleeping. All I can do is take a migraine pill and wait. They are slow. At least 2 hours. 2 very painful hours. How can I do this. I’ve done it and do it with things that twinge when awake. But asleep 🤷‍♀️
@PainFreeYou

Do you expect these headaches to wake you? Perhaps you can spend time before bed visualizing and day dreaming about waking up feeling great. The brain creates what we expect. Can you change the expectation when awake? This video explains how expectations can create the pain: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX3EaaunltR1ja8

I’ve had a lot of success with your methods. Am I 100%, no I’m not. I’m 70% better and I don’t know when/if 100% will come. My problem is ankle tendonitis from a running injury 2 years ago. My question is my ankle still swells every day. A lot of what I feel is tightness and swelling pain. Can swelling be part of TMS?
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 2 жыл бұрын
If the brain perceives injury - it can create swelling as if there was a real injury. The body heals. Yours likely did too. Fear and attention can convince the body it hasn't.

Thank you for the video. I actually never have flare ups. I have my pain under control and that is the problem. I work, I do housework with muscle pain, etc. I am very often tired and not able to enjoy life. Lately I am waking up earlier, I work late, be more active, and not stay in bed to rest, and it is a big effort, really big effort, but I am trying to convince my brain, I am okay and I do not need this constant pain, or rest. I have tried many mind/body techniques but this pain does not get away. I have managed to understand it will not get worse and I will not get any more symptoms. Hopefully I can overcome it fully. Any other suggestions?
