I recently bought the travelpro maxlite international. My old carryon was getting old and with airlines now doing the size and weight restrictions I decided time to retire my old carryon of 15+ years. It is so light I don’t think I will mind taking it through the airport with my first trip in January. I also bought the kroser laptop bag as my personal bag as the the shoulder harness clasp broke on my last bag on my last trip it looks like it will do the trick.

An HDMI cable is useful if you want to watch content on the hotel TV through your laptop. However, my advice is to make sure you can access the HDMI ports from the back of the TV. Also, if you are travelling with more than one person, have each traveller carry their own pen with them, making it easier to write any immigration forms without having to pass one pen around. My pen of choice is the Fisher Space Bullet Pen. It writes on any surface and its compact when not in use.

Great list! Thanks!! I have a Monos carry on and my wife has an Away. I like the Monos compression straps a bit better, but I'll tell you mine shows every mark and scuff on the outside, while hers is in much better shape.

How do you feel about the handles? I chose the Monos because of the handles and the zippers being the same color as the luggage.

When it comes to jackets, I like to have one with lots of pockets and wear it onto the plane. This allow me to carry lots of things that I can have to hand on the flight.

Good list. I've taken to getting an inexpensive pair of sleep buds and make them part of travel kit. I don't use them often, but when I stay somewhere off a noisy street, get booked next to someone reliving their frat days, or if I get in late and want to sleep in a bit, they're a lifesaver. I use them on long haul flights too, helps block out noise from other passengers when I'm trying to sleep. Bose discontinued theirs but Oslo just came out with a near clone of them.

I like merino and have a few pieces that I use on every trip. I followed the link to look for that merino tee and found that the 'sale' price is $80. Huh? I really DO like merino but that price is more than I am willing to tolerate.

Thanks for another great video! I will be overseas in a cold climate (30 degrees Fahrenheit) for four months. Having to pack sweaters is ruining my carry-on only vibe. Please ask Allie to do a video on carry-on only for long-term cold-weather travel. I have a Monos carry-on and an Aer Travel Pack 3 small. Would love to fly with just those two pieces. (Can't do Merino... I am allergic to wool.)

i personally layer on my bulkiest clothing and pack a shopping bag to shed layers into if i get too warm. i just realized i could pack a fabric bag or pillowcase and use my coat and hoodie as a pillow XD

9:53 - that isn't basic. My dopp kit is a CAP 0.5 from Evergoods and contains zero liquids, while still covering all my hygiene needs for indefinite time. That being said, all my tech (excluding camera) also fits in another CAP 0.5; btw a plug adapter is a very bulky item and I've never stayed at a place, whether hotel or airbnb, that didn't have one available, just had to ask. If I travel somewhere warm, I can use a 20L EDC backpack and stay for however long; if it's cold, I can do it with a 26-30L. PS: a metal waterbottle is a really bulky item, depending on the shoes you bring, it could take up more space than a pair of shoes. I use a collapsible one that packs down to nothing when empty and I hang it with a carabiner on the bag when full. Even if you have waterbottle pocket(s), that's still space you can use for something else (like the packable rain shell, for example).

Good video, but I have peculiarities... I don't spend hundreds on a bag, not because of quality, but because I always find something I don't like and end up changing bags... again, again, and again. My wife says I'm collecting luggage and backpacks. Lucky we have a big storage space over the garage.😂 No Merino because it's expensive and I must wash the clothes against my body after wearing. Merino or not I would be washing it regularly. It's just the way I am. Maybe a phobia? 😱

I really want to have some merino wool, but most companies that produce it just aren’t size inclusive. Even their 2X sizes are small. I get it, I’m fat. People/companies are generally very disgusted/apathetic towards that, but fat people need travel clothes too, so it would be nice if we could actually have them.

Midway USA had some 3xl (true size) on Black Friday. 5’ 10” 350 and it fits my torso, sleeves are a little long but that’s every long sleeve I own.

I like how you give packing ideas for one bag travel. I have an upcoming trip of about 10 days. I am thinking of skiing 1 or 2 days though. How do I pack clothing for something like that (even if I can rent all the ski equipment there). Do you have any suggestions

Here's what I did when we were traveling full time - I wanted to ski as well. I packed base layers and/or clothing that could be worn under ski gear (used some nike joggers as my stand-in long underwear pants, and packed a thin thermal long underwear shirt), used my normal mid layer and jacket (thermal fleece mid layer, eddie bauer puff shown in the video as outer layer), as well as gloves, and buff, then I RENTED the ski pants and helmet the same place I got my boots, skis, etc. The jacket wasn't a true ski shell, but if only skiing for 1-2 days, IMO it's fine. You could probably also rent the jacket.
