This is my favorite car that's ever been created from scratch hand's down, Ken Blocks hoonitruck/hoonicorn are in 2nd place. Can't wait to see the C8 finished and the 3 rotor come back to life. I’m personally a red seal technician in Canada and find videos like this where you get to see the engineering and science behind this kind of stuff. On top of seeing a one of a kind vehicle and build. Rob Dahm keep up the great work. And a bonus he’s real he shows the good and the bad. Hey look this is awesome oh wait we made a mistake but look we got way better results and we all get to be along for the ride way cool. Real guy and you feel 100% apart of it.

When making duct elbows for large ducting we we add internal vanes/walls to help direct flow in an elbow.

@@VNM_Arma image a rectangular funnel 8" by 4 1/2 ", it would cover over 3/4 of the IC inlet, same for discharge side, but it will require a full scoop in the bumper, it will need maximum air flow thru it , that car will never be a drag car, it's a 1/2 mile or 1 mile race, at those speed the IC will do the job, NOW,. do you think it will do 250 MPH?

@@elyasrasti8943 Can you explain why it doesnt flow any air? As far as I can tell half the rows are for the boosted air(side to side flow) and the other half for the air that passes to cool down the whole intercooler(front to back). So all rows are immportant and serve a purpose.

Adding internal baffles to split the air really help organize the air going in. Split the air in half all the way from the start to the fins. Check out Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost"

Your 4 Rotor series has been by far my favorite videos to watch. I'm learning welding in school and fixing cars up for a living. I have some totally shitty cars I drive daily Geo Storm and a Honda Civic Sedan. For 15 years I was on a bike with pedals before that. I'm all about the hyper miles and driving all the highways of the PNW! God dahm that 4 rotor sounds good!

The tank design is strange - Ideal tank is a taper so if say one row of tubes left the tank can be min same internal area , 2 rows of tubes - tank same area etc all the way up to the 4 inch inlet - outlet etc.

We used to measure temp and pressure going into and out of intercooler to see if the fluid dynamic program was correct. If you can get the outlet temp very near ambient air temp with low pressure difference between in and out then that is a perfect intercooler

Another tip that I have for your next intercooler iteration is the following: Put the inlet Side as low as possible on the side of the meshbox. The hot compressed air will travel upwards inside the inletbox and more evenly distributed through the coolermesh. And then mount the outlet tube as far up on the other side as possible. This way the air has the maximum amount of distance to travel through the mesh and thermodynamics will spread the air more evenly. I hope you read this and at least consider it. I do HVAC design, splitters/vanes inside your elbows or airways is the go-to way to keep air from bouncing around. You went the right way by keeping the flow straight as possible.

Some advice as an engine system integration designer. We have intercooler designs that match perfectly to kilowatt. The Cummins QSX series engines released in the late 90s and 00s were examples where we used full flow intercooler and water-jacketed intercoolers with parabolic curvature.

A lot of people totally underestimate the value of a the optimal sized intercooler for there application, and now you are not only flowing better but your air is also cooler so it is a double wammy. Good luck with your tune.

One more idea to help free up HP: every time I see that turbo I can’t help but think if you could somehow clock the compressor housing so that you don’t need such an aggressive bend immediately as the air exits the compressor, I think there’d be some serious gains.Keep up the amazing work, I absolutely LOVE this car and these technical videos!
