Thanks for watching everyone! Also, just a quick correct, they add 450 new tracks each month... not 40 like I said in the video. Pretty crazy! Also to get that free month of the Pro Plan, you can use the link: jamzone.onelink.me/aiaO/scottuhl and that should automatically apply it. If not, use "SCOTTUHLMUSIC" as the code. Enjoy!

Thanks for your video! There is another great app for that called "Playback with metronome" which can play any number of tracks you want and also support lyrics, midi commands, multiple outputs audiointerfaces, basic EQ on every track, mixer and so on. Another cool feature is ability to connect two or more devices to play playback in sync through wireless connection. And no subscription!

Your presentation of this is nothing short of outstanding. Thank you! I was aware of JamZone from the FB group for Backing Track Users (where you also posted the video), but your way of demoing it made it clear to me that I really need to book a JamZone plan. One thing I wish it could do is keep the drums and percussion unchanged when tuning down or up by more than a couple half-steps (such as needed to play songs originally sung by a woman). The drums and percussion can sound pretty „off“ when tuned a lot. That said, I would simply try to limit my use of JamZone to mostly songs that only need to be key-shifted by 0 to 3 half-steps.

Thank you for reviewing JZ! I have been a Pro subscriber for a couple of years and it just keeps getting better. I actually learned some things by watching your video. I was not aware of the multi-tracking capabilities. I will dig into that further. One thing I will mention; if you are in a band, the screen display can be routed to HDMI and sent to multiple users, so that everyone sees the same thing. Additionally, songs not yet available can be requested. JZ has been very responsive to my requests. They are the best!

A Cool feature to add would be the ability to have 4 lines to display instead of 2, expecially if you minimise the mixer. I use a 13in iPad, so 6 or 8 lines would be handy. A friend suggested the lyrics could be increased in size (like you can in Bandhelper etc)

I'm a big Stage Traxx fan but this looks good, only thing I would miss is vocal cues like you said but there is the visual indicator at the top. One other thing that I don't think was mentioned unless I missed it, does it have sessions so that everyone can see what's happening on their own device? Splitting stems and importing tracks in ST3 takes time and effort but offers more flexibility whereas with JamZone it looks like you can pretty much download a song and play it which would be handy for requests.
@ScottUhlMusic10 күн бұрын
It doesn’t seem to have the session option that stage Traxx has. Another comment said you could connect to HDMI, but that seems more complicated. It would be a nice feature for sure!

Great video. I use Stage Traxx 3. It seems very similar, but less labor intensive. I think it is a bit expensive. Any thoughts? I also like ST3 MIDI capability to embed codes in lyrics.

@lgovantes18 күн бұрын
@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for your input. Maybe both are good to use...the free version of JZ to learn, and have as a backup, and ST3 for the main giggig app. I use Ultimate guitar, and Karaoke version and Band in a box for source music/lyrics tracks. It is a bit time-consuming, but then you have it forever!

This summer I played a short time with a cover band and they used this. I didn’t like that some songs had a four count. Drummer had the click in his ears and it isn’t enough time to start. Singer/bass would push play and then drummer wouldn’t be able to get but 2 or 3 hat hits to start. Other songs would have slight breaks where I saw the metronome time shift up and down. Check out the end of Prince “Let’s Go Crazy” and I defy a band to get back in sync to play the ending. There’s some great things about the app but in my experience the weaknesses make it really hard to use as a full band.
@ScottUhlMusic3 күн бұрын
I do wish you could set the count in, I agree. And let’s go crazy is nuts! I made my own click for that outro. But that song wasn’t recorded to a click, so it’s definitely not easy to make to a click, that’s for sure. Thanks for the feedback and comment 👍

I currently use an app called "Set List Maker" and it does that. I have my tablet controlling my guitar effects pedalboard and it turns pedals ON/OFF at the right time in a song. My other question is, can it display the lyrics in full screen mode? Perhaps with Chords as well? Thanks..
@ScottUhlMusic8 күн бұрын
Thanks! And it doesn’t have midi automation. And when you close the mixer you get a pretty nice screen with lyrics and chords 👍
@pilot1404678 күн бұрын
@ScottUhlMusic thank you.. Shame, I really need the automation. I am still looking for the perfect tool. The one I use is also excellent but it has a few small issues, for the way I work of course.

Looks cool. I will try it. Do you know if the app can sync with other iPads running Jamzone? Maybe wired together via usb? For instance, let's say your band is learning a song and each person has their own ipad. One guitar is playing standard tuning but the other guitar is using a capo (or different tuning) and wants to see those different chords scrolling and maybe the keyboard wants to transpose as well for easier chords. It would certainly be more sales for them.

I didn’t see an option for that when I was going over it, so I don’t believe so
@jamzoneapp4 күн бұрын
Hi there, this option is not available at the moment. Howewer, you can use an external screen via HDMI. more infos about it on our blog :)

Sounds like an opportunity for an AI integration! “Make me a cover song that sounds like xxxx….” Or “can you guys play song xyz…”. Now that would be another level (and price!)!
@ScottUhlMusic3 күн бұрын
It’s interesting for sure with ai music sites like Suno. Although I don’t believe you can currently say “make it sound like this artist” yet
@MarcoStarink10 күн бұрын
I had a Jamzone subscription and found that when lowering the key (even half a step), the sound quality (especially bass + acoustic guitar) degraded a lot on certain songs. I must say i had the basic subscription. Do you think the pro subscription is better?
@ScottUhlMusic10 күн бұрын
No, it will be the same. But if you pitch shift anything up or down more than a whole step you can get artifacts. But I usually don’t have an issue with it personally!
@MarcoStarink10 күн бұрын
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks man!
@jamzoneapp4 күн бұрын
Hi there, the drum and percussion tracks remain unchanged when the pitch is adjusted. This applies to all instruments, and the pitch or transposition feature is especially useful with Jamzone, particularly for harmonica players who need to transpose songs to their specific keys. If you have a list of songs that are affected by pitch changes, we’d be happy to hear more about it. With the pro version, you'll have access to songs in HD. Feel free to use Scott coupon for one free month to hear the difference :)

I've done an album plus of my own tracks where I've sung and played all the tracks, can I use those stems in this app?

No, look into stage Traxx 3 or MultiTracker (I have videos on both)

I just bought the B Beat Pro 16 for running my back tracks, which was very expensive. Does the Jamzone do the same thing for much cheaper? I did want to get away from laptops using Ableton just because computers are so unreliable. Your thoughts.
@ScottUhlMusic10 күн бұрын
B Beat is such a different product than JamZone. They are quite different in what they can do
@JohnDAddona9 күн бұрын
@@ScottUhlMusic I'm use to making my own tracks from using Ableton. But if you had to choose. For a more pro end result for playing live with backtracks and functionality, what would you recommend(B-Beat Pro 16 or JamZone).
@stratacousticman10 күн бұрын
It’s a shame there’s no way (yet) to share the screen with other iPads in a band scenario, unfortunately, no way to print lyrics or chord sheets…but your review is great and it is a great product.

I agree, that would be great!

Is there a way to change the chords? i’ve noticed a couple songs that I play a little differently and I’d like to change the cord. Is that possible?

Not manually, no
@robsmith53885 күн бұрын
@ well other than that it seems to be a pretty good app but unfortunately that’s a dealbreaker for me. Maybe they could make a change so that you could change the chords. Thanks for the video. I appreciate your work.

After you mix you song, do you have the file and are you able to drop into a program like logic, to make medleys of a few mixed songs/files? Some don't play the entirety of songs and prefer to make medleys.
@ScottUhlMusic10 күн бұрын
No, you can’t do that. It’s all saved on the app

Hi there, Each song is available in the app. You can record and download your performances, and any modifications to the songs are made directly within the app.

It’s a great app but just so frustrating trying to find a way to record your practice with guitar effects on. I’ve been trying for days with my Mac and always plays back with a clean tone or is really badly recorded. Have to use the iPad only I think ?.

That might be only for iPad, I’m not sure, I don’t really use the record feature tbh

The multitrack routing in Stagetraxx is so much easier. I can’t get anything to output from Jamzone in my x32 X-Live

Weird… you should be able to basically follow the same steps!
@BatteryIncTribute5 күн бұрын
@ Not sure what it is. It’s not recognizing X-Live as an input on my IPad, but it works fine on my iPhone. Might have to do with the fact I’m using an older iPad with IOS 15.8.1 although it supposed to be supported.

I'd be curious to know if there is any other way to loop a track using a foot controller such as the one in this video. Let's say I'm not satisfied with the song list provided in jamzone. Just wondering.
@ScottUhlMusic9 күн бұрын
Crazy that you aren’t happy with the songlist. I found basically every single song I was looking for except maybe 1 out of like 500 tracks. But you should be able to do that well with midi. Restructuring you would need to do by hand I believe
@jamzoneapp4 күн бұрын
Hi there! You can use MIDI devices to control Jamzone. As for the song list, we add more than 400 songs every month, and you’ll have access to over 60,000 songs! :)
