I have a standard 9" garage door and the ceiling height I think is 10 feet but the main issue is, the garage door cannot be moved "up" as I have storage being used above that dead space of the garage door. With that said, Would my s2000 height of 51" and miata height of 49" fit? I used the calculator on your thing and it says it would fit at the first lock and need 110" of clearance (if the s2000 is on top, it doesnt go out ever so it's going to be on top, vs. Miata comes out more so it's on bottom) , but do not know how accurate that is?

Given your overhead restrictions, we may have other options that would better serve your specific needs. We recommend checking out either the HD-7: www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/four-post-lifts/hd-7p/ or the GP-9: www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/four-post-lifts/gp-9f/ With the Autostacker being only on the first locking position, you may find that the Miata needs to be parked a little further rearward under the platform to make entry/exit of the vehicle easier. This results in needing more depth in your garage. The four-post style lifts suggested above will allow better clearance in your specific situation. The HD series lift does require a compressed air source to release the locks, while the GP has a manual locking release, so it would be up to you to decide what works best for your garage. @@Autostacker Thank you very much - that is great info. So is the HD7P more narrow but taller than the GP9F? My main concern is ceiling height. Are they powered by 120V or air? Judging from those 4 post lifts, you'd need a side mount motor to make them work and may have to raise the garage door height which is problematic as I have overhead garage storage shelves in the dead space above when the garage door is opened. I looked through the brochures of both online on your site but just want to get the best direction - and do you know of any installers that can do this in the 60148 area? (Chicago suburbs)?

For the HD-7P, the lift columns sit at 100 inches tall (8.3ft). That said, the runways have 15 locking positions, the top most of which is 86 inches. With positions every 4 inches, you can select a lock that would put the top of the S2K below your garage door. You would need to know the exact clearance you have in your garage, then subtract the 51" height of the S2K plus 4 inches for the thickness of the runways. This would mean if the total clearance is 9ft (108 inches) minus 55 inches, you in theory would have 53" to park the Miata underneath (- a few inches for the closest locking position). The same formula works for the GP-9F except that the columns on that lift are 89 inches tall (7.4ft). Additionally, the GP-9F has only 14 locking positions. As for power, both lifts are powered by standard 220v electric/hydraulic power units. 110v units are available if needed. The HD-7P does require compressed air, not to operate the lift itself, but rather to disengage the locks. The GP-9F on the other hand, does not require an air source as the locks can be manually disengaged. The video is almost useless. I bought one of these and the installation manual shows a different power unit than i received and the video is no better. Neither the video or the installation manual show any detail about hooking up the hydraulics.

The problem I see is the scissors are in the way of opening the lower cars door. They never show how skinny you have to be to get out of the lower car

Clearance underneath for the doors opening will depend on the specific vehicle parked underneath, the overhead clearance in your garage, and the parking configuration. Many users with low clearance ceilings will back into the spot to avoid any issue with the scissor being in the way. Additionally, if you do have higher clearance the scissor will move far enough forward that entry and exit in any parking configuration shouldn't be a problem. Again the largest factor being the vehicle itself. If your garage is large enough we do offer an extra wide model as well. This would give you more freedom in terms of parking configurations.

That's correct. The access panel cannot be moved. The Autostacker is not designed to be a service lift, it is designed as a parking solution.
