Hi Tommy. After watching your two videos about those Brazilian pellets ( Rifle rtx) I thought I've got to have a go because I've never seen you so enthusiastic about a new pellet that's not a jsb. Anyway, I bought 250 in .22 which was a hefty £15.00 give or take from i hunter on Amazon. They turned up today and look fantastic but just as you said they're covered in those quite large bits of lead and very oily. Sorry for the long drawn out message, just wanted to confirm that the 22 is the same as the 177. Btw I dug out my ultrasonic jewellery cleaner after seeing your video. Great idea. I'm 63 years old and love watching you younger guys improving technique and showing us old gits how it's done. Also, I only have a couple of springers and my best rifle is a pr900!! Don't laugh. 😁😁😁

Hi mate, that's amazing to hear 😀 the rifle brand pellets (the premium lines anyway 🤣) have so far been one of the best finds of the year on the channel. It's great you've tried them out. Most of us younger guys have been fortunate to have been mentored by some of the best 'old boys' in the game. We all love the nerdy stuff and if we can all learn something new and push the development of the sport forward then that's a win for all of us 😉 Cheers mate!

I spray my pellets with carb cleaner, leave them for a few days then spray silicone spray on them let that dry and they shoot lovely close groups. I would estimate 5-8% closer groups.

One element I would love you to add is chrono data for different pellets. How energy varies with weight and head size would be useful to know, particularly in the context of maintaining sub 12. Great content, thanks.

Hi mate, I plan to do some fairly involved vids over the winter along these lines, power/weight/size And some extensive chrono work. It'll have to wait until the weather's a bit worse though as I'm enjoying playing in the sun too much 😉

This is why I use QYS, no lead flakes at all, consistent weights, and no lube on them what so ever. Makes it easier of you do choose to add your own. I've not added any myself, and I get pellet on pellet at 40 yards. Admittedly I'm using a heavily tuned 97k.

I was using the rifle premium pellets 4 years ago in my regal ,r10 and np-02with much the same results, the only reason I stopped using them was because I couldn't find a supplier that carried them ,now they 're back with re-designed packaging, washing them was a must as my barrels were filthy after 200 shots

Morning TG. Nice set of results with those pellets, classic performance of the RTX in the wind, would be very interesting to see how they perform in some of my rifles that are little less exotic than your ones. They are an interesting shape, looks a bit like a slug with a skirt at the end, so presumably they have less contact in the barrel than a slug does, so will exit with a higher fps, probably a bit friendlier in a choked barrel as well.
@tillysgunstocks2 ай бұрын
Hi mate,I've been really happy with them so far. The Rtx are absolutely text book drift wise. I'm seeing a tiny bit more drop than with my good batches of jsb exacts but for the majority of our usual disciplines, not enough to make any appreciable click changes. The ultra heavies pack a real punch,I'd like to try these in ballistic gel for sure 😉

Really enjoyable video, recently subscribed. I’ve got to be honest, love the logic and testing. You’re a great teacher and it’s given me the bug again. I guess I will be cleaning all my pellets after this 😂😁
@tillysgunstocks2 ай бұрын
Thanks for being a part of the channel mate 😉 I like to be methodical with all this stuff,it helps get cleaner more repeatable results. Many of the pellets are absolutely fine to run straight from the tin tbh, the Rtx are just a bit over lubed . Maybe for extra protection when coming from a warmer climate. Definitely worth a bit of experimenting though. So barrels will definitely see small improvement with a wash and lube,some won't...😉

Is the graphite lube a homebrew? I cast firearm projectiles and also a big bore rifle slugs and I will sometimes lubricate deep hollow point or hollow base pins with an isopropyl graphite powder mixture to promote easy release from the mold. Just wondering if that is what is your lubrication mixture?
@tillysgunstocks2 ай бұрын
Hi mate,at this stage it is a bit of a home brew yeah. I need to spend a bit more time keeping an eye on things like potential seal damage and barrel corrosion before it goes public.dont want to be sitting on long term issues,not that I can foresee any but I'll spend some more time using it first before saying what it is 😉

Another great video.Thank you. Im from Brazil and ive been comparing rifle pellets against JSB and H&N. All the premium line are performing amazing. I think you shoul try the Super Magnum 10.03gr. They are a little bit more lead residual in the tin, but once cleaning and select they are really good.

I'm very impressed with the tolerances of manufacture of the premium ranges. When I get some more,I will test with much more detailed weighing and sorting,and a quick wash and lube 😉

Does the black graphene lube get on your fingers and then all over the place? I've tried simple graphite treatment of the barrel and dusting of pellets and they seemed to shoot tighter groups but it became too messy to bother with.
@tillysgunstocks24 күн бұрын
So far in further testing,it's proving really good. The liquid carrier of the graphene seems to flash off a bit and there's no obvious residue or build up on the barrel/pellet probe. I've started to use it on the express for br duty too now. I'll do some comparative testing vids when I get chance 😉

What has happened with the lead ban that was proposed some time ago? I thought by now we would have seen an influx of lead free pellets. Those RTX look like contenders to replace the JSB.

I don’t clean or lube pellets. Maybe I should. I had a shooter tell me he washed his ammo is a strong mixture of ivory dish soap and let them air dry. Enough of the soap mixture remained and acted as a lube. I do lube bigbore slugs. I use a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and liquid lanolin. 25% lanolin 75% alcohol. Put it in a spray bottle and spritz projectiles. If you reload centerfire, this is probably a better case lube than a bullet lube but it is slick enough to allow case & projectile resizing of brass & softer lead projectiles. I cast using mixture of pure lead and wheel weight lead. The projectiles are harder than pure lead but soft enough for HP expansion at velocities I get out of my airforce texans (.308 & .457).
@tillysgunstocks2 ай бұрын
Hi mate, some pellets will definitely respond well to a little bit of prep work, the Rtx are just a bit grotty for me and I can't risk the lead flakes getting blown into the action itself. I'm glad I tried it though as they show some real potential. I would say though... I'd be very very cautious using some traditional dish soaps/washing up liquids to clean pellets as they potentially contain some salt😬 That's a sure fire way to cause corrosion issues. Things like car shampoos are very similar but without salt, same with leak detector sprays Vs washing up liquid 😉
@motorgearhead2 ай бұрын
@@tillysgunstocks - thanks, never considered salt being in the mix.

@@motorgearhead back in the day when I was apprenticing as a plumber it was always drummed Into us never to use washing up liquids for anything other than the dishes or for beading silicone.
