Only hand-lapping a barrel bore with a special paste will make it suitable for airgun use and supreme accuracy. The secret is in the elbow grease.

The middle of saw blades is usually NOT hardened, maybe a little bit tempered to cope with tension on cutting but usually it's just tips that are designed to be rock hard ( carbide/ tungsten steel) 👍😉

I had a go with a 9015 at the range recently and the trigger was sublime. Is the Ali XTi in the same ball park?
@tillysgunstocks8 күн бұрын
Yeah I've got both the red xti and my 9015 feeling the same. Both can go much lighter than is safe for outdoor target rigs 😬 The trigger sears are massive in the xti compared the 9015 which makes them pretty robust😉.

Yup, a little unbelievable the film clip I saw, zero recoil at the rifle for a start, even with rigorous ballistics calculations beforehand, you can only base air pressure/moisture content/temperature, and any windage on a forecast. World Class Benchrest Shooters need 7 minutes of sighting and zero before the first 7 minutes timed card, and even the timed card has a sighter plus five scoring rounds, and conditions may mean that a tight group is all that is possible, rather than hitting the centre of the target. Based on the film clip I wouldn't pay to see the film.

It's definitely a pretty Impressive bit of kit mate. Only limited time with it so far,but I think it'll work out well long term 🤔
@three-phase5628 күн бұрын
I can appreciate the engineering behind it, but there is way too much adjustability in it for me. I wouldn't know where to start and can't see my level of shooting benefiting from it. Definitely one for the serious accurate shooters in my opinion.
@tillysgunstocks8 күн бұрын
I definitely think a set up guide and some baseline settings will be useful down the line mate. I reckon the most important thing though is it'll now work for all the disciplines that don't need an adjustable hamster. Shot it this morning prone at 50m and gelling well with it so far. Probably going to go for some higher scope rings though like the red one runs. It turns out I'm not as flexible as I was 😆
@RossNoonan8 күн бұрын
My only suggestion is some markings on top where the butt pivots so you can remember where your settings are and so you know you have it dead straight without relying on your eye.
@tillysgunstocks8 күн бұрын
Good shout mate, a scale would be a nice idea. A bit like the butt hooks have for height and the scope rails on the 10m rigs. I'll be sure to forward the idea. I'll say it was mine 😆😆😆 😉

Absolutely not mate, I love the 9015 as I've had it for so long now it fits me perfectly. I was kinda surprised to set a new pb with the red xti tbh. I thought that I was doing ok until that point. The 9015 is a mega test rig too on the channel.

To be fair I've seen some poorly adjusted and the original red one did need a little fine tuning and a de grease,the new action is way more subtle in its shot cycle than the early action was.

How does the pointy things work in a magazine? I would think the copper points would scratch the internals.
@tillysgunstocks10 күн бұрын
All being well the copper/brass tips should never come in contact with the mag rotor or barrel. With auto indexing mags we hold the rotor back to drop the pellets in, hopefully well centred. Same on loading unless of catastrophic issues they should always be loaded concentrically enough to keep the tips away from the delicate parts of the mag/barrel 😉

I saw a video of tracking one back to the nest: they used a piece of very thin white plastic, and super-glued it to the giant hornet while it was busy killing something, and then were able to track it as it flew away with the white flag attached.

I have been using QYS .177 Streamlined 9.56 grain pellets for quite a while now. I've bought dozens of tins and can say in all honesty I've never seen a single damaged pellet, not one, and bare in mind they've traveled a lot further than JSB pellets and probably gone through the same kind of transporting and handling punishment. Something to consider, maybe. Great videos. Keep them coming, please.
