Had mine almost a year now. I hope you all have one each! It's the best thing since sliced bread!!!!!!!!! Best free mod is to remove the foam from inside the tires. They easily support the weight of the vehicle, and get a little softer after that. Make the shocks as soft as you can. And maybe add a few sticky weights to the axles.

I keep hearing "toy grade", but I would not consider Redcat "toy" grade. They may not be on the same quality as Axial, or Traxxas etc..., but they are definitely a hobby grade brand. Just on the affordable lower end of the scale when you consider "hobby" grade. Other than that, great review!! Also, for the price, you really cant go wrong.

This review came at a perfect time. I'm really interested in getting into crawling (I have no RC experience outside of cheap toys) but I couldn't really justify a TRX-4 and LIPO charging setup as my first rig. I'm looking at this very seriously.
@rabbidpotatoegaming45145 жыл бұрын
I suggest the team associated cr12 as a first rig. Come with a lipo and charger already in the box for 179$. And it has official licensed bodies a Ford f100 and a Toyota fj40. I also found that with a bit of modification when your ready to upgrade you can make it perform a lot better for not a lot of money. Just Bob the bed bigger 1.55 tires. Better steering servo and metal horn. Then remove those pesky bumpers that get in the way and you have a serious crawling machine. I'm currently looking into either shortening the chassis or extending the wheelbase to get rid of the overhanging Frame in the back.

I've always had bashers. Revo 3.3, E-revo, Vaterra Halix, etc. I wanted a crawler as well. But, I wanted to get into the scaled side of things as well. I ended up ordering the RGT Pioneer, still waiting on the mail. Rtr @ $265 + tax. If you haven't gotten one. Might be worth a look.

I went with a TRX4 as my first crawler rig, having experience with high end racing rc cars. The TRX4 performed pretty good out of the box, only slightly less capable than some of my friend's crawlers, but so far the TRX4 has been by far the most durable and reliable

Hehe, 2 years now since I got mine. This crawler is stupid fun! And now I think I've modded mine too much! Hahaha! The front axle actually steers the wrong way, negating the actual steering, and the body/chassis tilts over too far either way! So now I have to try and make it work properly again.

If you want to make the plastic flimsy truck hood alot more ridged and durable hears what you do get a can of great stuff foam insulation for small gaps less than 1 inch then hold nozzle against inside of the body and cover entire inside about 1/2 inch thick with foam then let it dry 12 hours then take an long exact knife and carve interior out to fit over chassis leave about a 1/2 inch on sidewalls where it clips on .it will make it 100 percent better believe me!
