New Hope and Ivyland Railroad close to where I live is what made me get into model railroading. They also have a Baldwin Locomotive. Brings back memories of me and my dad standing in front of the coach while the locomotive coupled up for the way back home.

Been to 2 of the three places. Love George Town loop and the Colorado Railroad museum. Agree with you about these must see Colorado locations.

I having been trying to build a Georgetown loop into my layout. Engineering wise that is significant elevation change (4%) and is why it was built. Far to neat. Also ride the Georgetown loop at Christmas! They do special things.

Nice video Ron, it brought back some not too distant memories! I was able to ride the Georgetown Loop in the cab of the West Side Lumber Company #9 Shay locomotive while it was on loan from the Midwest Central Railroad back in 2016 (it is back at the MCRR now). My father is an Engineer at the MCRR and we were able to use his connection from operating the #9 to get the cab ride free of charge. I was also fortunate enough to ride in the Georgetown Loop's #12 several times while it was at the MCRR during the equipment exchange. It is because of these experiences that I have decided to model in the transition era as a new N scale modeler. Your videos have been a great source of information.

Hey, Ron! It sure was great to see Michelle Kempema on your channel and get a nice overview of the Colorado Model Railroad Museum. I have seen Michelle quite a few times on TSG Multimedia, John Abattacola's channel. Check out her train chase of Union Pacific's Big Boy 4014 with the "Steam Sisters" on TSG.

I was on the Georgetown Loop, and i loved it. We weren't pulled by a steam loco though, the other one was in the shops. On the way back to the main station, it started raining and everyone on the open cars came into our closed one!

Thanks, Ron. You brought back some great memories from way back in 1984 when a friend and I visited both the Colorado Rail Museum and the Georgetown Loop. Both have expanded considerably since that time. Another friend and I are planning a trip from Australia, so I might add these onto the list of places to visit.

@@RonsTrainsNThings if you do come to new England for train stuff I would recommend the eagle lake locomotives in the north Maine woods ... BUT I would highly recommend going with a local because the Allagash wilderness is no joke(its more wilderness than the western slope in Colorado now days) , its 100 miles out of town and cell service . bare minimum rent a good 4x4 or go out with someone who's been there before. I could do that in my wrangler if you'd want

The 2nd train I have ever been on was at Golden Co, the 1st train was at Strasburg railroad. Yes I have been only on 2 full size trains ever.

Unfortunately, I've yet to visit anything that far North (Live in Colorado Springs), but I'll have to make an effort to check them out when I next go up toward Denver. Have visited the Royal Gorge Route, which is fun, even if it is just a forward and back affair. Also have ridden the Manitou & Pikes Peak Mountain Railway, have only ridden the newer swiss engines though. They do have the Baldwin #2 Steam Engine "T.F. Richardson" on display in Manitou Springs.

Been to the Loop and the railroad museum in Golden. Both great places. When we were there, the garden railroad wasn't operating due to weather. Was the Lego display on the way to the indoor model setup still there? Nicole was fascinated with it and wanted to get one herself, but I had to break it to her that it wasn't a kit, it was someone's custom creation. 🙃

I didn't see a Lego layout at Golden, but there is one at the model railroad museum in Greely.

Yes, I still have several Colorado rail destinations I'd like to hit. I've done the Durango & Silverton twice and been to Ridgeway, but still want to to the Cumbres & Toltec, the Royal Gorge Route, and the Leadville line among some others. Colorado is a wealth or railroad vacationing.
