Nice layout Ron. I am a " lone wolf " too and I realized that too much layout would mean way to much maintenance. Which takes away from the fun of operation.

Now that is a nice layout! I've only gotten into trains in the last year or so. I have a beginner Bachmann Rail Chief set that I've added about 50 feet of track and 7 cars to. I run it around my office floor. I'd like to get into a DCC set, but I'm still a bit confused on how that all works.

Thanks Ron. It's great for me to see how other people set up their layouts and where it is situated as that gives me ideas for mine. I always thought your layout was a circuit not end to end so this has shown me that part. There is a lot of time and effort put into the layout and it definitely shows. It is also amazing to see how much extra lighting is needed for the videos as I am also making videos but do not as yet have any of that fancy lighting that you have.. I just use my phone and shoot then edit and then post.. but one day maybe I'll get fancy and get some decent lighting.

That was really cool seeing the basement ! BUT, I really miss the intro music you started out with in your early videos. Can you get that back ? Your videos inspired me to return to the hobby in 2020. After more than 20 years of raising kids and new job assignment, your videos convinced me to try it again to relax. I am really glad I did. I still use a piece of that same song in the closing of my videos, but I won't bring it back to the intros because when the music played I lost viewers in droves. People are just really impatient to get to the meat of the content. You'll note on my newer videos I've taken out my introductory splash screen all together. That is why.

Really enjoyed the tour of your basement explaining how the layout fits in around various features. I did wonder why you took the staging tracks across the doorway when presumably there is space in the same room on the reverse side of the wall to the scenic portion of the layout.

Good question. The reason is because the space you mention is taken by a washer, dryer, furnace, and hot water heater.

Wow, Ron. Is that the amount of light that you need for doing videos and livestreams? Uh oh, HO creeping in. Be careful, it’s nice to be able to see the trains, lol. It’s great to see how it all ties together in the basement and the layout looks terrific. Love the expansion into the other room, even if it’s just 2 feet at a time. Great set up.

Don't be fooled. The camera settings were originally set for the parts of the basement that are not so light, so those same settings really washed out the layout at first. You'll note as it goes on in the video that I adjusted the settings and it is a lot less bright.

Great tour! It helps to see behind the scenes to show others how to manage your space. You’re one of my top two channels now that I’m re-entering the hobby after 35 years! I’m learning a LOT! Question: I have seen on a couple of layouts, including yours, those little trays mounted on the front edges around different parts of the layout, holding cards of various types. What are they? Information cards about the trains or the “towns” on the layout, or operational notes? It’s almost like you’re displaying things for public visitors. Just curious. Thanks!

Thanks for posting a new tour Ron. I love the layout. I understand your issues with being far from other modelers. I think you're probably the closest layout to where I live. Thats why Im also building a big layout. Watching your videos has helped keep me inspired to gut it out through the construction phase that I'm currently in. What spacing did you use between your upper and lower decks? Are you happy with it?

I have a full 24" railhead to railhead. That allows 18" clear. That's a lot a d requires a large helix, but I wanted grail elevators on the lower deck.
