To everyone saying that field hockey is a "gay" sport, its not field hockey balls are hard plastic and we wear minimal protection. Ive broken my jaw, all my toes and a couple of fingers during hockey, its my favourite.

To be honest there is nothing different between field hockey and ice hockey. Just you not on ice you have a ball and you don't wear a helmet some rules are different you have a smaller stick

+Connor O'Niel A few rules are different? Dude you ever watched a game of field hockey? It's more similar to soccer!!! Ice hockey has way smaller goals, the game goes way faster, the ring is so much smaller, there's so much more difference between field and ice hockey m8!!!

have watched the players for over 40 years and found most of these skills are developed by players just having fun in and around the hockey field. Gordon Johnson from Canada spends the winter months in his garage practicing his close skills, dribbles etc so that might be a clue. Hope this helps.

+Rauta Arska it's hard for left handed people to adjust, BUT you always find they pick up reverse skills a lot better and faster. So I guess they actually have a small advantage :)

+Jack Robinson It was generally made so that poor countries like india and pakistan stop dominating hockey. Football is so similar to hockey yet It did not move to turfs. Did'nt stop from refining the game. Hockey today depends on raw speed than skills
