Cool stuff. I don't know if there are many collectors of modern Greek coins. Old world silver coins are neat from any country.

I'd bet you're right. Though I was very happy to get some older non-silver coinage as well. Thanks for watching!

Nice to hear you had a nice holiday and some great coins added to the collection!

It was definitely lots of fun to see some coins I wasn't very familiar with!

@@CADRollHunter what coins did you manage to collect from circulation? I imagine the circulation coinage consists of a rather different mix of countries there than in what I'm used to in Holland/Germany.

I haven't actually looked through the Euros yet. Probably mostly Greek, but I recall at least one from France and one from Spain.

Wow! great haul. Thanks for sharing -- I was thinking of doing the same thing when I travel abroad - by some local silver currency.

Seems like a great way to spend some time and I'll always have something to remember my trip buy. I don't usually buy souvenirs, and this seems to the best kinds of souvenirs!

Got to love the way "drachma" rolls off the tongue LOL! All in all a very informative video. James did you have any problem with Canadian Customs with the coins?
@CADRollHunter2 жыл бұрын
Not at all actually. Now we just fill in the customs forms electronically when we return. The only question they ask is have we exceeded the duty free limit and if we have alcohol or tobacco. They don't actually ask what you're bringing back if you haven't exceeded the limit.

I have a lot of foreign coins. Can you tell if a foreign coin is silver by looking at the side live you do an American coin. If you have that solid silver white look on the side then its silver or is that not necessarily true with foreign coins. Thank you in advance for your answer.
@CADRollHunter2 жыл бұрын
It's not that simple with foreign coins. American coins are somewhat unique in that the minting process makes the copper layer visible on the edge, making it easy to distinguish clad and silver coins. While silver has a distinctive "white" colour, it is much harder to tell the difference in foreign coins when they all have a solid edge (no copper "stripe") regardless of the composition of the coin.
