The new 34th St. - Hudson Yards subway station on the 7 line in NYC has 2 incline elevators built by Maspero Elevatori (some Italian elevator manufacturer), they were installed by Kone.

dieselducy next time you are in Pittsburgh PA ride the inclines at mount washington, they are just like this but bigger, faster, and run up and down the side of a mountain, not to mention the view from the top is spectacular!

Come to Pittsburgh! We have two inclines - the Duquesne and the Monongahela. Both take you up from E. Carson Street to Mt. Washington for a great view of the city. Although, I'd advise visiting Pittsburgh in the warmer months!

I think there's going to be one of these at the new subway station in NY by the Javits center when they extend the flushing line. Hopefully there will be two of them since they're pokey. I went on one like this at a subway station in Helsinki. They're also a bit like the elevators at the Luxor in vegas, though those are opaque and much faster.

Nice one, i can take an "Special Video" just for you in Stockholm. There they have many metro stations with "Inclinator"! Many old "KONE ASEA-Graham" from the early 70´s, "Thyssen" and some "KONE" from 80´s and later! The newest i ride, it´s an "Full glass" like that, it´s an KRUPPY ThyssenKrupp from 2006! :)

In Hamburg, Germany, there are also some inclinators. At Jungfernstieg subway station there is one pretty much like this with a counterweight going by underneath, except it goes faster and has a shorter travel distance: watch?v=os7pFIZcOl4. But at the same station, there are also some roped hydraulic inclinators which only travel approximately ten feet (measured vertically): watch?v=rWHksVB4baQ.

Not a big deal if you ask me. Seen such elevators in 1983 in Hamburg, germany in the subway station 'Messehallen'. Although this technique is not brand new, it offers the ability to install elevators where no vertical shafts are at hand.

@@Ih8kone You're right... it was a long time ago that I posted this and I didn't realize the ambiguity of my comment. I really meant I didn't see the advantage of this as a *third* option, in addition to escalators and elevators. An elevator would be much faster than this. Unless this is somehow cheaper or something, but I can't imagine that it would be.

Amazing that the guy doesn't seem to realise that these incline lifts are primarily for the use of disabled people and those with children's pushchairs. They cost only about 20% of a conventional shaft lift, but obviously can only be used where escalators exist.
