Just received a pair from you on Tuesday. In a tank with platys and corys. They dart to any drop into the tank, which is awesome. But your pictures on the website are terrible compared to the real thing. Maybe thats a good thing? Either way, super cool fish.

I'm glad you got those fish...they are an old favorite of mine. Got my first ones back when I was a teenager and I've loved them ever since. And yes, I'm a terrible photographer...that's for sure.

How are they holding up? Any pointers or anything you can recommend to keep them happy and healthy? I plan to buy a pair from Dan either today, or early next week, and could use any pointers you can give.

@@DansFish Don't sell yourself short. I'm buying a pair of these in part based on what I saw in your video. They really look like a stand-out fish, and I can't wait to get a pair, probably next week sometime, weather and authorities permitting. Primarily weather. The authorities really don't care. You're in Wyoming and I'm in Nebraska, so we're practically neighbours. So what if Sheridan is in north central Wyoming and Lincoln is in south eastern Nebraska. If you need a cup of sugar or a couple of eggs, I'm not going to turn you away empty handed. The bottom line is there's fish involved. Really nice fish. So we'll just do it!

@@Chompchompyerded Floating plants or decor. Not the whole top but give them some coverage to hide from the surface. But not duckweed, they seemed to have trouble finding food when that started to propagate in my tank. Water sprite and dwarf water lettuce were the 2 best I used. Freeze dried krill seemed to be the favorite non living food but ate most things that floated. Depending on the size of the tank, get more of them. I have 4 in a 36 gallon and it brought more activity out of the 1st pair. That's probably the max for around that size. No aggression to the other fish, they certainly kept the platy population in control until that duckweed.

Speaking of first fish, that little guppy that keeps photobombing was my first fish back in the ‘70’s. I’ve not seen them for sale in the fish stores in decades. Thanks for the video, hope they do well for you.

Thanks Mega, I will have to catch all my 1970's-style guppies and put them in a tank together so I can list them up at the website. Several folks have expressed interest in them.

How large does a fish need to be so it’s not food? Would they eat a clown killifish or cardinal tetra?
@DansFish5 ай бұрын
They won't eat fully grown cardinal tetras, but clown killies would be delicious snacks.

The tail reminds me of a galarus is the breeding method similar where you need peatmoss
@DansFish7 жыл бұрын
Howdy Thomas, These are a non-annual killi, so the eggs are incubated in water instead of in peat moss. Here's a link to a detailed description of how I incubate rainbowfish eggs. I incubate the non-annual killi eggs the exact same way as I do these rainbowfish eggs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH-rl4CanpmAaMU
