that's wrong , any car that cost over 50k have to survive at least 10 years without any high cost repairs , like transmission or engine, regular repairs are not expensive like brakes or any regular maintenance , keep in mind mechanic is similar to most cars. otherwise is better to buy a new car for 20k. so my conclusion and advice as mechanic is: it is worth it to buy a nice used sport car, for 20-30k with 5 years old. then, you will have a lux car per less of the half of the new car cost, for another 5 years...driving a 70k sporty car, .............price-less!✌😎
@johnh8705
@johnh8705 3 жыл бұрын
Only the morons who purchase those cars used are concerned with maintenance costs. People who buy a $100k plus car new, doesn't keep it for 20 years and they aren't worried about maintenance.

@@johnh8705 if you paid a 100k for your car to keep it for 20 years, means you have no idea about cars, sorry. With 100k I would buy my house and I will keep it for 20 years, price on my house will double the original price, after 20y. A car that you purchase in 100k will not cost any thing after 20y, again:buy a used sport lux car per 20k, then , use and enjoy it, for other 5 years and sell it for 15k and over and over again.....at the end of the day ,you will have your house and driving a sporty 70k car all the time different brands, got it?

I used to only buy used back in the day (90s early 2000s). Back when it was much easier to work on your own car in your yard or self help garage. Plus the way my bank account was set up..... But now bothe those things have changed, my bank account and the ease of working on your own vehicle. I now buy new and have been blessed enough to buy semi luxuary vehicles ($100K) range. It also brings piece of mind because i can get in it and dont worry about it breaking down with maintaining proper maintenance. And i have been fortunate that I get big discounts on that part too.

I bought a 2013 Q5 with 82,000 km last year at 75% depreciation. After 12,000 km and spending $1,200 to replace some worn parts and front tires it's running well. Only medium term issue is oil as it's on pace to use up 1 quart of oil every 10,000 km. Despite the niggling costs, I will put this car to good use someday as my place of residence has a petrol for EV replacement scheme that waives the 110% import tax on EV cars at up to $35,000. I'll trade in this Audi once EV cars become mainstream and new ones falls to my budget of $30,000.

I used to always buy used vehicles to get the best bang for my buck. Now that I have a career that allows me to afford a new car I tend to go that route. I enjoy owning a car that is mine and hasn't been driven by someone previously. I also enjoy having all of the initial warranty in tact and not having to pay out of pocket for the inevitable maintenance that's going to occur. I'm not rich and wouldn't be buying these crazy priced cars but i can comfortably afford around a 60k-70k car and I am ok with the depreciation.

I bought a 2020 Rover HSE P525 new in June. Beautiful car, but it's had to go into the shop once because the front and rear seats stopped moving, another time because the cabin ionizer was making a high putch whistling noise, and another time because the lower screen on the dash needed a software update. But it sure looks good, the interior is comfortable and the ride is amazing. If I didn't buy the car to use as my business vehicle and take deductions, I for sure would have purchased a used one because of the insane depreciation.

I've been renting a new car every single month for the last 10+ years. I pay between $450 to $600 per month depending on the time of year. I carry 2 seperate insurances that cost a total of $250 for the entire year. Granted the insurance i carry is a "one off" insurance which means that if i get into an accident i would need to purchase another new policy BUT the greatest advantage is my insurance NEVER goes up no matter how many accidents i've been in and i get to drive a brand new or almost brand new car each and every month. You name it, i've rented it and will probably never go back to owning or leasing a car ever again. Ohhhh did i mention that the car charge is 70% deducted on my taxes since the car is mostly used for work

It's interesting to compare luxury car depreciation with property value increase over the same period. I bought a 2000 ML320 W163 for £1000 in 2013: when it was new in March 2000 it cost £37,250 - my house cost £41,500 in April 2000, so the car cost 9/10 of what my house cost. When I bought it my house was worth £140,000, so the car cost me 0.7% of what the house was worth. Okay, it only does 19.5mpg and running the car contributed to going through a DRO, but it is a lot of fun!

So, as tempting as it would be to purchase one of these depreciated beasts, do your research on the ones you are interested in, particularly on owner forums and such. You will get a much more honest idea of what you may face as an owner from the maintenance and repair cost perspective. They are all expensive to maintain if you follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance and heaven help you if you have an engine, transmission, or electronics issue. If I had my choice a right at this moment, I would go with Tesla, the amount of routine maintenance compared to a traditional IC engined car is substantially less, and if you look at the cost to "refuel" the car versus an IC engine it less as well. Just my $0.02 worth based on past experience and current research into my next used car purchase. PS - BTW, an old joke for BMW M cars. There's a reason why they use the M symbol, it represents the multiplier for routine and repair maintenance costs versus a normal model BMW.

Yes I bought a new at the time in October 2015 a 2016 Mustang, and bought the Extended 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. Just took it in for service and the dealer wanted to buy it. It has 49,000 mile, replaced the breaks, and tires for the 1st time. Yes i drive slow , though, you could ask my local Waba drive thru how I go thru the drive thru.....Drift her.. though now with the new tires i think i'll hold off on the drifting for 3 to 4 years.

Good video definitely right on the range rovers, I know from experience but I still go back for more LOL, just love the SVR. You did forget the Rolls Royce Cullinan 420K down to 320k in a year. The only one holding well is the Lamborghini URUS, they do drop somewhat but not much. Seems ones with options are holding up. The question is how long will they hold well, feel like when the Audi RSQ8 is really out and 2021 URUS start the 2019-2020 URUS will drop hard.

Ideal Media I love my 2003 Jaguar XJ8L 73k miles $5k in excellent condition leather and all will need a gloss coat maybe but other than that it’s in pristine condition and maintained. Sure it depreciated but the smooth ride, crisp sharp turns, the saloon style that sits low is well worth it.

Seems to me, high depreciation vehicles have a propensity for poor reliability. Are there any exceptions to this? What you need if it exists is a fast depreciation vehicle that retains resale value after the first initial depreciation.

by the time you get them after they have depreciated in value, they are still new granted but they are going to be needing all kinds of service which is not cheap at all. so the money that you are saving by not spending $1000000 on a car you end up spending on servicing it and repairing it

I think the watch is there because of depreciation. If I listened right you said the watch costs about $150,000 and the car depreciates $137,000 you can sell that watch sell that car and never have to worry about it again.😂

I bought my Touareg brand new in 2011 and that SUV is still my primary car today. I'm still loving it. It got me through snow storms, bad rain, and some light off roading just fine. I'm just sadden that VW USA have stopped bringing in new Touaregs since around 2017-2018. I would have gotten a new Touareg if it was available in the US.
