RM125 @ US dollar $30.00, very very cheap seafood. Plus the Sabahan people are very friendly and they speaking good english too, you feel welcome in this very humble state of East Malaysia. For those who is planning to visit Sabah, please do so, bring your smile with you and trust me, you will be amazed. The Sabahan love to smile, laugh and it comes naturally from their heart. And also, they love singing, I mean Karaoke. Everywhere you go, you will hear people call, Boss...Boss...everybody is a Boss there 😁... I love Sabah.

The price you pay was totally reasonable! As a Sabahan, I can approve. That fresh fish alone should be around RM15-20, the lobster around RM80 for that big. It was quite cheap. Another style of cooking you can ask next time are Crab/Prawn masak telur masin, Kailan masak Ikan masin, fried/sambal sotong and Ikan merah 3 rasa. But it's up to you really. Glad you enjoyed the food here and yes the place is for locals too!

Ahhh.. In kk you definitely should try: 1.fresh fish (3-flavors, steamed, or chilli-fried) - waterfront seafood night market beside pasar besar kk, very near the small roundabout with ikan todak (marlin) statue and across from segama shopping complex/mr diy/servay supermarket, since they open evenings, this is for dinner, right within the city centre 2.avocado juice/shake 😋 - same place, waterfront seafood night market, but you have to look which shop offers it, not all do 3.kelapa bakar (burnt/grilled coconut) - this is a bit outside of kk city centre about ½ hour away towards the town of tuaran, best you go during daytime (11am - 4pm), here you can also try their jelly kelapa, and grilled lokan too

The fish that you ate at kota Kinabalu normally we call it kerapu bara.. it is definitely an expensive in Malaysia..but rm 25 for 1 PC was a very good price..

Seafoods in sabah are the cheapest in Malaysia! Btw, did you go to the islands without snorkeling / diving? If yes, it's such a waste!

In my opinion, when you have fresh fish, the best way to eat it is to steam it and paired with a soy sauce gravy. That way you can taste the sweetness of the fish itself without any other major enhancing flavour. We would deep fry and make sweet and sour with fish that is not so fresh. And that coral trout for RM25 is a steal. You will never get that price back in KL.

The 1st place that you went to eat have a special local delicacy. They serve local cooked fugu. The only place that I know of serve fugu apart from Japan. But it is not served as sashimi, they cook the fugu. Ask for "Ikan Buntal". It probably is an acquired taste but it is something even the other locals don't know of.

I did went to eat there just now. 3 persons, rm141...lobster, fish, Sabah vege (aka pakis), seaweed, seashells and 3 drinks...very reasonable price. Good recommendation, thanks Kaz.
