Hey Jim! That's really cool, always wondered what those things looked like on the inside! I've been walking past it for four years now, and you have answered my question! Thanks! See you soon!

Thanks for that video. I have one of these I bought as parts on pallets from a previous pulled installation for my shop. Exact same thing, but arrived as pieces on a truck. I built a cinder block elevator shaft. Car, motor and rails are installed perfectly. Is there any chance I can pay you some good money to get photo-copies of the service manual/diagrams/blueprints that your school has for their Atlas dumbwaiter? I will make it worth your time. Atlas was bought out by Matot I believe.... so there is no information available. I don't have any info or technical documentation for my Atlas 500. :(

I've never seen someone so interested in elevators before, I don't think she had either lol.

It said that Atlas Elevator Co. made this dumbwaiter. (probably a different Atlas than either of the elevator companies called Atlas in California).

Would really be nice if we could get a look at the motor and into the shaftway...

I wish, but I have no access to that nor does the librarian. Only a qualified mechanic would have access to those.

Basically, a miniature freight elevator.

as far as school bells go, it seems like many schools phased out those loud, mechanical bells and replaced them with more pleasant chimes.

Does the building have a passenger elevator as well?
