21:22 Mick-" So you're hearing some sort of rhythmic thing there aren't you?" Dan-"yeah" Proceeds to assassinate Red and burn the pedal shed to ashes. No words man. One of the most incredible things I've ever seen someone do on a guitar. Dan crossed over to the other side and was spirit walking. Holy shit.

Wow, great sounds guys (well we would say that wouldn't we?!). Just to clarify: the Binson hadn't been maintained for years - it came to us in need of total restoration (like a barn find classic Ferrari) as most of them do. The good news is, once we've completely overhauled them like the one on the show, they should run and run (with a little regular maintenance - oiling/cleaning) for the next decade or two (or three or four). They really were built to last. As I told Dan when he visited - when I found my Baby Binson many years ago, it had been dry stored in a loft for 25 years: it fired up spluttering and popping and with a gentle shove to get the drum moving it basically ran and worked (though did need a good runthrough and set up). They are amazing - so good to hear you playing through it!

Old electronics takes alot of TLC (replacing caps, servicing mechanics etc..). Great to hear this stuff alive after many years. As I get older, I am starting to believe that "Mojo" is a real thing. You know it when you see/hear it and it hits the emotions, but it remains undefinable.

Good its not THE ending and the story will hopefully continue for years to come. My search for better tone is definitely not over and you guys can definitely teach me tons of more ways to improve it. I saw a great rock band yesterday. Two guitarists and a bassplayer who all used the G2 switching systems on pedalboards sized like medium aircraft carriers and they sounded awesome. I bet they would not sound as great without you. keep spreading the good tones, your philosophy and your fabulous show ! Thanks.

Awesome!! My "poor man's" way of getting nice wet/dry sound is: guitar to drive/comp/boost pedals to super champ x2, then it goes to torpedo captor loadbox and splits, normal speaker output with 20db att to the combo's speaker for dry tone, xlr output from the captor goes to xlr imput of pod hd500x for stereo reverb delay and modulations and then straight to monitors (with captors analog speaker sim), or to computer with wall of sound plugin and then to monitors. SOUNDS GREAT (at least at my apartment) :)

What a segue into the new digs!! I think you did The Shed justice. Best of luck this week with the move. If you get a chance, I need some advice. I am on my way to pick up a 1968 Fender Bassman head in the morning. I am using a Mesa Boogie Transatlantic 15 into the matching 112 cab on the left, Boss Katana 100 into an Egnater/Guitar Warehouse 112 on the right, the Fender Bassman will be matched with an Allen Organ Gyrophonic rotary 212 cabinet in the center. I am currently running a wet/dry, with an ABYBaby, Katana and Mesa Boogie. Would I be better off with another ABYBaby, or the Humdinger to setup a Wet/Dry/Wet?

This reminds me of what I’ve been trying to justify with my own rig and that’s the creation of a fully produced sound LIVE. We double or triple or quadruple tracks of and effects on guitars when recording but now we also have the power to get those big sounds live and, if you want to be inspired night after night, you need your tone to transport you to that magic place like where y’all get in this video.

I'll miss the pedal-shed / man-cave concept. Wish you guys could do a show on analog solid-state amps - like the Peavey Bandit - and its pros/cons over tube or DSP amps.
@CorbCorbin6 жыл бұрын
José Roriz I will take a guess, and say they don't care for Solid-State amps, analog or digital. But I'd like to see a show where they play and explain what the difference is. I've heard from many amp guys before, but I'm sure Dan would have an awesome way to explain it.
@thenotsoguitarguy94296 жыл бұрын
They did something similar. Check out, Do We Like Transistor Amps from about a year ago.
@mmmichelin16 жыл бұрын
Other than past videos, I don’t think we’ll see it. TPS is all about finding your best tone so that it inspires you to play better and even the tone inspiring you to write. Some transistor amps can sound great in the right context, but nobody’s using a JC-120 as a pedal platform. They have an amazing clean sound and they’re have tons of headroom. Normally that’s what you want after your pedals - but the difference is that tubes clip in a more musical way. It’s hard to escape that. I imagine that someday they may find a way to change that, but for now do yourself a favor and get a tube amp. Not a hybrid or anything with micro tubes, it doesn’t even have to be fancy, expensive or have more than 5 Watts. Once you’ve spent some time with it, you’ll understand. I heard the same thing for 20 years before I finally decided to go tubes, and I’m not looking back.
