If you ask me I'm not an engineer but just watching these machines work the bigger they get the wider the tracks need to be the deeper the tread needs to be and the longer they need to be because I watch these great big dozers and you can see the tracks slipping they push huge loads downhill just fine because they got the weight behind their ass and a giant blade but they can't push loads on flat ground or uphill near is good because the tracks just slip if they were deeper maybe put teeth in them or cups for forward movement make them whiter and will much longer there's plenty of room to make them longer for the size of the machine if you look at it proportionately

@AwesomeEarthmovers4 жыл бұрын
All the material he is ripping has to be pushed in the up hill direction. Ripping downhill would mean constantly turning around 180 degrees for not much benefit.

@@AwesomeEarthmovers I got ya thanks much...
@pauldhanjal80404 жыл бұрын
@@andrewrobertson5602 Ripping down hill is the most effective way, You rip your entire work area, then you push it off, this way you only turn around once, then once its all pushed as per the slot dozing technique you then clean up your windows, then proceed to rip you hole work area again. I do this for a living on a D11t in an oilsand mine, I have done many Caterpillar sponsored dozer courses, we have 25 D11's where I work with more on the way to support our 90 plus 400 ton truck fleet.

Deveria ter uma estreira mais larga. Pelo o tamanho da maquina a esteira e estreita
@NAS-vj5is4 жыл бұрын

This may be a stupid question but why would a machine of this size need to rip gravel? It should easily cut that material with the blade. If you have frozen ground or solid rock yes ripping is a must. Ripping this looks like a waste of valuable time wear and fuel. Unless there is some unseen reason that camera doesn't show.
@AwesomeEarthmovers4 жыл бұрын
Ken Jett it’s much harder than it looks. You can also get pockets of really hard stuff. I have a video of Komatsu’s D11 equivalent not being able to penetrate material like this at all with the ripper.
@kenjett24344 жыл бұрын
@@AwesomeEarthmovers well that makes sense was just wondering sometimes you cant see everything with a camera. But in general with gravel ripping isnt necessary. But that is why i asked was a heavy equipment operator myself for years and have pushed my share of all kinds of material. One of my most precarious jobs was pushing blasted rock off a 200 foot high wall. That can test your nerves.

@AwesomeEarthmovers4 жыл бұрын
How are you going to do that when the point you have to push it to is uphill? Are you going to turn 180 every time you need to rip a bit as well?
Sorry but to push up hill is stupidity and yes I know the loader is underneath the stockpile. But surely their is a better way of working than this..ripping and pushing up hill.fuel efficiency or what. Been in this Quarry and I've worked here..doing this is destroying the undercarriage..
@AwesomeEarthmovers4 жыл бұрын
He has to push it up into a stockpile for a wheel loader. When he first started on that gravel deposit he would have been pushing and ripping downhill but as he’s got deeper he can only go uphill.
