Growing up on our farms, we had alot of ponds dug for us by Carl Sloan and his 2 D8 Cats, my lil brother and I would get up early and trek the farm to were they were digging and watch them move mountains of dirt, especially cool when they would line up side by side and let the coal roll out those pipes moving a mountain, the sound of those old Cats was so awesome , the real treat when every once and awhile they would let us ride with them

When I was a 20 year old back in the early 80s I worked on a farm that was also clearing land. They had a fella come out with a low loader and what I thought I remember them calling his dozer a D12, could that be right? This thing was huge, the blade on the front and the rippers just ploughed through the Mallee like nothing. His set up was incredible, on his low loader he had everything he needed to keep it going, he said there wasn't anything he didn't have replacement parts for. He could also do the work himself plus the cocky I worked for was a qualified engineer and diesel mechanic. I think he charged $200 an hour in 1983
