In this video we move from framing and lifting the biggest rakewall on this project, to laying out and framing interior walls. Finally, we plumb and align, but we do it with a bare minimum number of braces. You'll also see how we frame soffits, install the belly band and side the gable before lifting.
Thanks for watching.
Please remember, I’m not showing the best way of doing something, just what works well for us.
Oh if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like KZbin if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.... I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

This is exactly how we used to build houses, minus the strapping for top plates. Your layouts are spot on for accuracy and speed. Im too old and beat up to do this anymore, but it brings back good memories of a well oiled crew. Subbed your channel.

Most places I have worked will frame the wall to the top plate then stand it up and put the bottom of the studs on the layout marked on the bottom plate. Then toe nails it to the bottom plate also we have always done 16in to 18 inch on center in Texas but I'm also learning still to I'm only 24. But it's always bring a incredible sense of pride when your done and it's perfect for the family we built it for

Great Video! Its crazy how different house construction in the US is compered to germany...for example we do all the framing at the company and transport every single wall to the construcion site and put them with a crane in place...very interesting to see that as an german draftsman 👍

I really like those Paslode guns. I bought the 16 ga (I am a finish carpenter ) and hang a lot of trim with it. I built 4 huge hand rails walls and trimmed them out with it and used it (GC said it was fine) to place blocking the 40’ inbetween them where a big metal hand rail spanned it and was lag bolted thru that top plate into the blocking sucking it right up! It saved me the time it takes to set with my framing nailer and compressor for that blocking! Just a light gun , goes a long way one one can of gas!! Hoping they come out with a 15ga for my doors I hang! Thank u for the video and forum !

Man I'm jealous of siding the wall on the ground. Last house for 2 men it was about a day each gable to sheath wrap side soffit and caulk each gable. Even if that adds a hour that's totally worth it

We're renovating a 75+ year old house. Most of the doorways have a 2 x 4 header. They've been fine for this long, so I'm sure your non load bearing bedroom door will survive a 2 x 4 header. Lol

Lots of guys do. I've talked to every trim carp who's worked on our houses and they don't care. Might be because our homes don't typically have large casing around the doors.

@@AwesomeFramers Yeah, the finish carpenter that follows me on most jobs would throw a fit if I left less than three inches of solid wood above door openings. He's the type of old-school guy who wants to do everything the same way he's done it for the last twenty years and is uninterested in adapting to anything new. Working around people with that type of attitude really wears me down. To his credit, he is an extraordinarily fast and efficient trim carpenter as long as he doesn't encounter anything new or unexpected.

Hey might be a crazy idea, but what if you left the interior walls till roof is done? It always seems to be a race to get the roof on so that you can work in the rain, might be an idea as once roof is done interior framing can be done rain or shine.

We cant clad on the ground makes it too heavy. Though we do 2 ft centres in non load bearing and 18in on load bearing. I prefer to work off A1 drawings mainly coz my eyesight is going. What you call trimmers we call jack studs. Are your studs 90mm? We use 90 and 70mm. Headers are always seasoned and kd (kiln dried) hardwood. Ive stepped back amd doing smaller repairs amd renos by myself. Getting too old for framing. Yeah im only 60 but ive abused my body for 40 years

It's good to see proper approved hand signals from you and your crew! I'm a smidge older than ya'll so I'm gonna say enjoy it while your physically able! I still frame and hang a little bit! My last hoorah was layout in the Patel mansion outside of Tampa (look it up on google).Pretty much not a straight wall in the place! 5 tier soffits, grand ball room, mosque, library, rooftop bar, wine tasting room, hidden stairwell, outside was sandstone panels that were pre assembled in India, (the whole exterior )and cut and shipped here in About 400 crates, underground parking for 12(in Florida?)without a doubt the most complicated layout o ever did. We had to layout 1'x1' squares on the floors before we could even think about walls (like I said curved walls, free formed radius's! Check it out! 🤠🤔

There are no stupid questions here 👍👍 A king stud is the full height stud next to a door or window. A jack or timmer stud nails to the king stud but is cut shorter to support the header. The header carries the load above windows and doors.
